Doom 3

It's craaazy. I just got it, but I only have 256MB of RAM, so it's choppy and crappy on my computer. Looks great on my friend's comp though. *Runs off to BestBuy to upgrade RAM*

Looks absolutely amazing on my computer. I used to build custom gaming pc's before I got into motorcycles. To many things to tinker with on my bike to build computers anymore.

Gotta admit, I feel pretty bad for the makers of Doom3.. took what, 4 years to design the game? They priced it pretty reasonably, and Blam, within a week of it being on the shelf someone cracks it and it's one of the most downloaded torrents on the internet.

I also feel pretty bad, cause the damn download took so long to finish :twofinger :twofinger

it didn't even take a week. the game was on suprnova on sunday. it didnt even come out till tuesday. i've pirated a few games but this is one game that i HAVE to purchase. i'm not gonna rob the id boys. if it weren't for them we'd still be playing the fagtastic text based adventure games and using our pc's for real work.

Doom 3 is Doom 1, 2, Quake 1, 2, with new graphics and a tad of a story. Like every other ID game it's a great tech demo with new graphic goodies. Worth buying? Maybe once some linux binaries come out and I get a new vid card.

I'll take a stab at it code, I'm pretty sure it's similar to P2P (peer 2 peer) downloading. Basically, people who have the file upload it to other people downloading it, who can then upload to others. Eventually (if enough people leave the client running), you get an amazingly fast download of very large files without having to pay for a server's bandwidth. Surely someone with more knowledge will correct everything I just said, but I think that's the basic concept.

Oh, and I'm NOT impressed with Doom 3 at all, but I also paid for the damn thing

awesome game. for those of you running it on a subpar comp, try turning the vsync (verticle sync) on. makes a big difference.

BTW, if your not impressed with doom, then maybe gaming isnt good for you, cause nothing is gonna look any better for a while. while halo 2 will have the most awesome multiplayer action, the graphics are not where doom is, and halflife two will have the superior AI and physics engine, but once again will not look as good as doom.

Doom 3 Reloaded is the one you want, has keygen, crack and cheats. Also I think PC games are like cars you should try em before you buy em. I'm not spending 50 bux for a game I hate.

i tried downloading it and it says rejected, redownload from 123torrents.com. i registered there and tried downloading it and it said port 6882 blocked. wtf, help me out guys. i download pr0n torrents all the time and never have a problem, wtf

Looks alone just don't do it for me. It's great that the graphics are amazing, but my guy still runs up ladders with a shotgun in both hands, or shoots windows that don't leave bullet marks, or mindless AI that make the same 4 noises over and over again as you shoot them, or parts of the environment that you can shoot all day that won't move (coke cans), or blasting a monster 1 inch away with a shotgun and have him keep slapping you. Sorry, but being eye candy isn't enough to make me like a game, sure it is pretty, but I need some depth/storyline/challenge.

Yeah, I bought the pre-order box a few months ago and got the nifty little pewter Doom Alien-looking toy inside. Nnnniiiccce.

Well, the game is great....I stopped playing sniper on Return to Castle Wolfenstein long enough to play it. Great! I want to see how long it will take for Doom servers (go GameSpy.com! http://www.planetdoom.com/community/server/ )to go up so I can frag...uhm...meet new people on-line. Might end up configuring my own PC to host a few games...once I'm done playing the game at least 10 times!

Anyone who downloads games off the internet is a punk. Its no different than walking into a store and shoplifting a game.

And, well, if you aren't impressed with doom, FPS games aren't your thing I guess. They don't get any better looking and the action dosen't get anymore intense than this, and won't for a while (Halflife 2? Halo 2??? Nah...)

I have a pretty sweet computer that i built myself and this game really taxes it. here are some suggestions for those of you that are having problems getting the game to run well.

i have played doom 3 online, and in the funniest way i might add. my brother and i figured we would just play a lan game. all of a sudden, there is 4 other poeple in the server, evidently, while you are playing on the pirated version, you can just search for lan games and join other peoples private games. i have been doint this for the past three days, and it rocks. try it, jus host a lan game and wait for people to join. or just search for a lan game (not internet cause the CD key is invalid) and there may be some open.


btw, you go ahead and spend money on your PC games if you want, its not like id, and all the other manufacturers dont make enough money as it is. i havent paid for any form of video entertainment in prolly about 5 years, and i dont intend to start any time soon.
