It will keep your rear shock clean. If you have an undertail it will also keep it clean and won't throw rocks up and chip the paint. I have one on my ZX7R

You don't NEED it (appearance mod in my opinion, may help keep the shock clean).... but it seems that you might want it.. :twofinger

If you have an undertail it is a must.....For those of you that do have an undertail, you know what I mean.

Its all up to you, I mean the hugger keeps the undertail and rear shock clean and it gives it a nice look to it. I didnt have one on my old bike and it f&cked up the undertail...so I made sure I got one with the new bike/undertail

if i paid good money to get a pretty undertail i'd be a fool not to get a hugger. give it about two weeks and that pretty undertail will be full of scratches and dirt. if you dont have an undertail, then you don't need one, unless you want it!

Probably BS but, I've read somewhere that a hugger actually aids in the cooling of the engine with the wind turbulence from the rear wheel or something like that....

But other than that, looks and shock protection is main purpose. My buddie's hugger on his '04 R1 also acts as a license plate catcher, lol. His plate came off and got stuck in the hugger after hours of him searching. Funny stuff.
