Has anyone seen this? This company makes kits to convert MX bikes to road bikes - keeps the engine, frame and major components. They make kits for all the major manufacturers:

Too bad the price is so high between the bike and the kit, because it looks pretty damn cool.

I don't know about useless, depending on what state you live in it can be fairly easy to plate a dirt bike. My 97 YZ250 supermoto is plated in KY and the bike has been since new. I know several guys who have plated CRF's, and YZ/WR's in both KY and OH.

One of those conversions might be a lot of fun.
There is a guy over on the wera board that races a CR450 motor in an old Hawk GT chassis. The conversion seemed pretty straightforward. Other posts show bikes with CBR9__ inverted forks and other chassis mods.

This may be a cheap way to do a 450? Personally I think an XR650 motor would be perfect for a built Hawk frame.

I looked into doing my YZ250 2 stroke using the forks and rear wheel off of a YZF600 and bodywork from a late model SV650 that I had laying around. It looked fairly easy but I lost interest when more of my riding buddies started riding off road again.
