I finally after 20 years of bought a beautiful new 2007 ZZR600. Yep I said New. The dealer had a left over and I got a killer deal. This is my first bike and if it wasn't for the deal I got i may have gotten something less sporty. I went out and got all the gear I needed before I even bought the Bike. This way I didn't have any temptation to ride before I had proper riding gear.
I wasn't really sure about the hole riding thing. I took the MSF riding class for beginers and was back 1 week later for the novice class and to get my license.
I should have done this along time ago. Living in the Pacific Northwest I have never checked the wheather so much. I get withdrawls when I have to go a few days without riding because of the rain.

Looking forward to learning as much as I can about being a safe confident rider.

KImnjay.... congrats......you are smart taking the msf and getting all the gear...

just remember that this bike is still a supersport despite not being the latest and greatest...it has a lot of power for a newbie...

saying you got a KILLER deal doesn't sound good...a great deal is better...:)

Two words: Rain Gear.

This

As long as it isn't really cold you have probably 85% of your traction when it is raining. Barring paint lines and manhole covers of course.

That first 10 minutes of a storm sucks, its like riding on glass until all the oil washes off.

+1 on the rain gear. I don't actually own any, but I enjoy riding in a light rain. Course, my pants and my leather jacket/gloves get soaked. Cools you off, very refreshing, and still have most of your traction. Heavy downpours suck though. I'm probably going to be buying some cold weather gear soon, you should look into that as well so you can keep riding. Just gotta be careful on cold tires and gravel/sand on the road.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I have started checking out Rain gear and am looking to buy some ASAP. Will be taking it easy for a few months don't want to ride beyond my capibilities. I have read way to many storries of people doing just that.

I started out this season on the same bike and it truly is a blast. I didnt ever get out in the rain until the end of the season and i do quite enjoy it, but it might be worth getting a couple months experience in before you do.

When it comes down to it, just remember to be smoooooooooth, and you'll be allright.

This is the only pic I have for now. Somehow my daughter broke the camera.
I have cut the stock muffler down and intergrated the turnsignals into the taillights.
Will post more when i get a new camera

This...

and this!

I took an on-ramp at a calm 25-35 mph and going around the initial curve my rear tire decided it wanted to make out with the painted arrow and I had to slam my inside foot down and basically powerslide out of the curve with my foot holding the bike up... that was a month or two ago and I still haven't regained my confidence of riding in the rain/early-morning-condensation

Anyway, welcome to some of the most fun you'll ever have man! Congrats on the great deal as well... stick around for a while, don't die ;)

Where'd ya find THAT?
Found it at Portland Motorcycle. It was the last one they had left. I know Bob Lamphere has 2 left but there prices are way high and they are black. Nothing wrong with Black just don't like to clean all the time. I paid $5699 out the door for a $7200 bike.

welcome to riding. I have a special place in my heart for the ZZRs - my brother bought a new one back in 07 when we both started riding.

good deal but that is right on track with what you should pay. anything more than $6,000 for an 07 ZZR, when the 2010s are out, would have been silly
