My bike was knocked over and the gas tank took a beating. What is the best way to remove a dent from the tank?

depends on the dent........some can be removed at a paintless dent place and some you just have to grind on and stud gun it.

more info would help or a pic

It is a pretty substantial dent. Studs would be the only way, but how do they attach to the tank. Aren't they spot welded to the metal? My welding skills and a gas tank...something tells me that is a bad idea. :blowingup

Obviously you would remove all gas, but how do you guarantee the fumes aren't still present?
