Be wary of taking on the task of repairing the bike yourself unless there is no lien on it.
I just went through this and getting the bank to release the Insurance check to you can be a BIG hassle.

I'm a fantastic cook. ;-)
Then you have a marketable skill, because I'm a horrible cook! :D

Yes, this is true. I paid off the lien on the bike with my credit card, then paid off the credit card with the money when the insurance company sent me the check. I'm lucky enough to be in a place financially where that was possible. After everything was said and done, and even after the credit card fees for doing a "convenience check," I still came out $2000 to the good. But if you don't have these options available to you, it can be a major pain in the ass.

I hate to admit this... Very ashamed to admit this... but my bike is financed through Bank of Daddy...

I'm lucky enough that I had the time and the money to search forums for good deals on new take off parts. What I couldn't locate there I bought from dealer and didn't have alot of out of pocket expense.
I saved a ton on the exhaust..... 1400 at dealer ... I paid 150 shipped to me . :)
I'm also lucky enough to have other bikes to ride while my Aprilia was down.

ok , I have to recommend an independent shop near me.
The Service Pavilion in New Holland , PA
Ive known the owner for years and he has been working on bikes for more than 35 years.
He has worked at multi brand dealerships but wanted to work for himself.
They are a big Arai dealer also.
