Looks like I may be re-entering the world of work after a three month hiatus.

I'll be in Oregon (Portland, I think) in mid September. It'll be contract that may be extended. It came about thru the "redeployment pool" I was placed in. Only down side, the bike will be in my garage in Arizona while I'm miles away in Oregon. Just thought I'd share some good news with my SBN brethren!!!

My hometown, Portland is a great place to live! In fact had my current employer not said ok to my remote work from tahoe deal I'd likely be moved there myself already.

Great beer all over the place. Downtown and the waterfront all have loads of awesome restaurants and pubs.

Big pedal bike culture in the city as well. One of the most bike friendly places anywhere in the world. Friendly people, lots of festivals, lots of greenery, blah blah. Plenty to do in the city.

The only downside is the rain of course, but if you can put up with that its a really cool place to live.

Thanks for the good info!! I was in Ireland for a year back in '04 and it rained regularly. I may not like it but I can get used to it again after living in the desert for the past three years.

Well Done Fabian! I am in love with Portland, but unfortunately do not have the skills to have a good living there, but I think about that city all the time
