So what is with your sig, 'I got my permit'?? The driving limitations (in a car) are pretty strict.

Class C: Instructional Permit
Applicant must be at least 15 years old and be able to pass the eye and knowledge test. When driving, there must be a licensed driver at least 21 years old in the front seat with him or her at all times. The permit is valid for 24 months. Parental consent is required for applicants under 18 years of age.

and you are not able to ride a bike on street until you are 16 (if your parent signs the waiver) - another year from now, with major restrictions.

Class M: Instructional Permit
The applicant must be at least 16 years of age and have parental consent if under 18. Applicant must pass an eye and knowledge test. The permit is valid for 6 months and will allow the applicant to operate motorcycles and motor-driven cycles with the following restrictions: no passengers, no expressways, daylight hours only, and/or certain other applicable restrictions.

This is not to 'rub it in', just to ensure you know the law and dont unknowingly break it - costing you/your parents major $$$, and you the loss of your license for a LONG time.

I got mine when I was 21, so I had been driving for 5 years before that. All I had to do was written test, then balance, then a quick ride in town and that was it. I had my full liscence, none of this learner stuff.

We don't have an M class for motorcycles in West Va. It's an F class.. The lady at the DMV told me the F stands for Fun. :D
Hmm...I question the knowledge of whomever you spoke to:

Motorcycle Driver's License

If you wish to operate a motorcycle in Virginia, you must pass the driver’s license two-part knowledge exam, the motorcycle knowledge exam and the motorcycle road skills test. If you already hold a driver’s license, you may add a Class M to your license. If you do not hold a driver’s license, you may obtain a driver’s license with a class M that only allows you to operate a motorcycle. For more information refer to the Virginia Motorcycle Operator Manual, available at any DMV customer service center or at www.dmvNOW.com.
