I had a friend who had a Yamaha Radian which had the California emissions canister; we removed it and then his gas tank would start this "whistling" when the bike was parked out in the hot sun for about 15 to 20 minutes. Anyways, I have a '94 Suzuki RF900 which I did exactly the same thing and removed the emissions gear and it too starts to "whistle" after a few minutes. Is there anyway to stop this or will I have to get the fuel tank from a 49 state bike???

canister

Sounds like the canister was part of the tank vent system, maybe you could
hook up a vent or vent hose where the canister used to connect??

Don't know the answer for the models mentioned, but almost every CA SV that I know has a tank whistle when parked in the sun at one time or another. We think it adds character. :lol
