Just moved here from the DC area, and I was wondering what it the best route to take to get on the island. Someone suggested taking the Verrazano to the Belt Pkwy, but I was thinking about going north to the GW.

Any ideas?

if ur NOT trailering anything or just riding the bike....
thru Staten Island -> Verazzano -> Belt pkwy to LI sounds like the best bet.
then once ur on the Southern state pkwy. you can take one of the Northern bound routes if you need to go to the N. shore.

I agree, fastest and most comfortable route.
