And did it stretch and feel comfortable after a while, or is this something that's not worth risking a bad fit? I've found several leather jackets I like, but some of them are a little tight in the shoulders (sometimes elbows as well) and fit well everywhere else.

I'm wondering the same thing. I just bought an Alpinestars TZ-1 that's tight in the shoulders and a little in the chest and was debating on seeing if it will stretch or take it back for the next size up.

They will strech some to fit. If Im correct they should fit snug when you first get them and will stretch in to fit perfect over some time riding.
The best way i've found to describe it is "snug" also. Not uncomfortable, though. Like, at first, you should be a little annoyed by how tight it is. It's not painful, but you can feel it's there constantly. Then after wearing it for an hour you'll forget it's there. Then, after a couple weeks, it'll stretch enough so that you NEVER notice any discomfort.

So yeah- it depends on your definition of "tight" i guess.... you should still have full range of motion when buying a new jacket. Other than that, you'll kinda have to judge for yourself. To get everything as close as possible, my arms are a bit loose in my jacket. But i have tiny little girl bones, so it can't be helped. :)

When I got my A*s Stunt leather jacket I thought it was a little too snug, but now having worn it for a few months I'm not uncomfertable at all. It may have broken in when I actually got to ride the bike and had it in 'riding position' for a while.

I also lost a few lbs, so I wondered if that had anything to do with it, thought the weight was not around my chest/shoulders (where I initially thought the jacket was too tight).

Lol... tell me about it, dude...

It's nice in the regard that i'm a LOT stronger than i look... but my arms look tiny.

I'm 5'8" or 5'9". I have a 39" chest. I have a 31" waist. No gut or anything to speak of. I weigh 195lbs. It's the silliest thing ever. I should look totally huge, but my bone structure is so small that i look normal. It's neat! If i had an average build, i'd be one of those little geeky stick boys (which i used to be. 135 lbs. until college. :D )

But yeah- i'm not complaining, really- like i said- i constanly surprise people, and i get free stuffed animals from the "guess your weight" booths at fairs!

It just makes buying clothes really difficult.... :(

Oh man, i've never laughed harder on this forum, i don't think!

god, that's funny.

And yeah- big forearms, small hands, and small biceps... (how did my forearms get so big? :D)

actually, it's from playing racquetball... mostly. Not entirely.

But i'll do you one better: I wear medium gloves, medium jacket, medium pants, size 8.5 shoes, and an XL helmet. My head is GIGANTIC!

And i see your funny picture, and raise you an EXTREMELY funny picture!

Nah, helmets are always a few sizes larger than everything else. My gloves are men's XS, jacket was women's XS, and pants are 4 or 6 but I wear a M helmet. My only problem is wide shoulders.

:eek:nfloor Actually when in uniform people ask me all the time if I am wearing my vest:eek:nfloor My shirts are wide in the shoulders and they have to be taken in at the waist to make them fit properly.

What brand of jacket is it? Seems like the cut of the jacket and the way it is assembled (stiched) make a difference in how it breaks-in.

I want one that's perforated and one that's got a removable liner with sleeves.
That's a good combo. I'm thinking about picking up a perf'd one soon.... need new boots and pants, first....

I already have 2 pairs of boots (although I'd need a third if I wanted to do a track day), 1 pair of overpants that will be back in service once I add leather to the knees, one pair of leather pants, and one pair of leather pants that are too big so I can make them into overpants (nothing pisses me off more than the idea of having to gear shop after every single get off, so I'm switching to leather). Then there's the 2pc in my avatar that's a little too big but perfect for wearing over shorts or thin pants. I just broke down and bought a "used" mesh jacket for $46 shipped (retail it over a hundred, Fieldsheer Josie) so I wouldn't feel rushed trying to find my leather jackets. I have 3 pairs of gloves too, and I only bought my bike in December!
