Those of you who know who I work for, don't mention the name here.

The peice of the place I work has 680 employees in three locations in North America. They have about 8000 more scattered around the globe... Last week, they announced 470 would be laid off.

Today, of the (smaller, more direct) peice I work for, of 35 employees who work for my boss, 12 were let go.

I now have my old job plus two more. And next month things are supposed to get more interesting...

Anyway, just suffice it to say I am REALLY looking forward to racing this weekend.

Welcome to my world. The company I work for has merged with or been acquired by other companies 3 times since I started working there. There were layoffs only with the last two acquisitions, but this last company doesn't know when to stop laying people off. They let us hire a new database analyst last fall, then turned around and took away two of our fully trained people in December with a new round of layoffs, and let the new guy stay. (We were already down two people who quit/transferred.) So instead of having 4 people doing the job of 8, we really only have 3.5 doing the job of 8. :twofinger
