First went to Blackman's , this time they noticed me checking out the SV650's AGAIN so they pounced.....lol.......don't really want a new bike. However I'm noticing bikes are not depreciating as much as they did years ago. Gas prices maybe?? So I may bite that bullet.

Went to see a mid 80's(*EDIT it was a '95*) CBR600F2. Bike was in nice shape, owned by a Harley guy no less!! He loved the bike but his wife thought he got too crazy on it, so he had to sell his Honda toy. He has a killer Softtail too but you guys don't wanna hear about that. Wanna hear what he showed me next?? We talked for a while and he found out what I was looking for. Then he showed me his new toy that was "wife approved". It was a 2002 Buell Cyclone M2. I fell in love with the Bike, seemed to be a work of art. Then he started it. That did it. He told me the bike wasn't nearly as slow as his wife thought it was. So I started looking at Buells. Yea I know, American bikes seem to be hated here. American anything seems to be hated here. But I just love the look and sound of a Buell. I know its a Harley and I'm gonna have to fix stuff on the bike (I'm into DSM's too so that should tell you I'm not afraid of working on things), but I mostly want grunt and torque, I'm more into good handling than 160MPH top end runs. Here's the kicker. I cheked with my insurance company, the buell is MUCH less to insure than a SV650! They think that SV's are so popular they are a high theft risk. So am I the enemy now?? I didn't get a bike yet....but its oh so tempting.

Simply sounds like the wife has a thing against Japanese bikes. If her hubby's going to get squirrelly he can just as soon do it on Buell. Hit your local dealer up for a test ride if you feel comfortable with the idea. I don't know what your experience level is.

By the way, as long as you don't ride like an A$$, why would you be the enemy?

Happy hunting.

cool man I dont know too much about buells but I saw a sick blue one the other day. It looked kind of like an SV650 too, I mean with some front faring and the sides exposed. It had that sweet buell signature exhause between the wheels and damn did that thing have some low end grunt. the (I'd say 240lb) guy on it straightened up from a tight turn and as soon as he rolled on more throttle the front end hopped up like nothing. a great looking bike and it roared like a friggin v8 musclecar.

No she really doesn't, she rides a Honda Shadow. She told me Harley's are too heavy. Let me tell you it must be a trip to see a typical Harley guy on the CBR600F2 carving up the corners, he even has a full set of leathers. She just told me she loved him too much to see him get killed...........so she begged him to sell the Honda and get a Buell. She assumed since it was a Harley motor it would be just like his Softtail speed wise. Those two were a trip, he already told me the Buell handled better than the Honda but needed more power up top. I mean this guy was a former Pagan, who just opened his mind a little. Wanna know what I think?? He's keeping that CBR. He told me he'd only sell it to someone "responsible" so he could sleep at night and his wife bought it. I'm going riding with him when I get a bike. He had the same attitude as you, "As long as you are on two wheels and not in a cage-its cool" Lastly he begged me to take the Buell for a test ride even though it wasn't for sale..........however he didn't offer the same for the CBR which WAS for sale. He told me to get a Buell, I'd kill myself on the Honda. LOL its was a FUN day, I love meeting cool people..........I almost forgot you meet the coolest people on bikes. Its like people in cages are just going places. People on bikes are making the journey to that place exciting.

That would be the XB12. The harley I would consider trading money for.

Well I kinda let all the reading on this site go to my head I guess. Most of my expereince the past 10 years has been on dirt bikes, so I kinda decided not to sink alot of money on a newer bike like an SV650 or Buell since it may take a little while to re-hone my skills. Well I was on EBAY tonight for kicks and i saw a guy selling a Mint '85 500 Interceptor. He's kinda asking a fortune for that old bike too, $2000. However it looks cherry, and he's willing to help me ship the bike. However will a bike that old be any good to ride?? I mean they were ahead of their time 20 years ago- but dated big time now. Still sitting on a bike that was identicle to my first bike ever would be like crawling into bed with an old flame. I really don't want a 250 Ninja, I'm 5'9" and still have alot of my old bodybuilder build. So would you guys actually think a bike that old would be good to ride?? I'm gonna be riding ALOT this summer. Tempting........ :fiddy

The 500 Interceptors were known for cam problems or something similar. Not too mention parts might be hard to find. Why not find a cheap (naked as in pre '04) GS or EX500 to re-hone your skills on? Keep it for a year then pick up an SV.

Eh- there's a 94 cbr f2 for sale by me for 2000. I know a guy that just got one for 1500, too.

You can do better than a deal like that.

And yeah- buell's are sweet bikes.

Yea I'd love to find an older CBR, however all that's around here are ragged out one with broken plastic going for $3000. I'm actually looking at Talon's again, finding a bike i like at a price i like that's close enough has been impossible. I mean there's a 1995 CBR600 in allentown and the plastic is all smashed-and its bid up to almost $3500 on EBAY. Nuts!! As soon as you say "Honda" the prices double. Thing is i have no idea if other makes in the mid 90's were any good. I really like older ninja's too. I guess gas prices are making any bike valuable,

the earliest cbr600 was made in '87. Im pretty sure the F2 didnt come out until the early '90s. So there is no way you were looking at a mid '80s CBR600 F2 because it doesn't exist

Uh that's a typo on my part sorry. The bike I looked at was a mid 90's CBR (1995 to be exact)

No. The 700 'ceptors are. And most have had that problem fixed by now (warantee replacement with better cams, and most of them that are still alive have oil mods done). The 500s didn't have serious problems.

It was an F3 if it was a 95.

Not to be a stickler or anything, sorry.....

But yeah- get a buell! They're totally unique. Japbikes are for suckers. :D

LOL well I'm not sure when the F2/F3 changeover was. There were no stickers on the bike he had it painted a really nice deep red color with no ID anywhere. He hated the garish colors, it was simply advertised as a "95 CBR 600". I figured he only did it for his wife anyway, and as I told you before he's not selling it anyway.

I freaking don't know WHAT to get-the guys on here got me convinced that even tho I have alot of motorcycle experince, it was a rather long time ago so I should be getting a 250 Ninja/scooter/rollerskates. Really I don't want a brand new type bike anymore, I'd rather get an older bike and ride the heck out of it to get all my riding skills back in line. I already ordered $600 of riding gear from New Enough, but still haven't gotten a helmet yet. There is a Nice Shoei at Blackman's I'm probably gonna get. I'd still love a Buell but if I find a really nice 500 Interceptor I'll get that. Who knows my mind changes everyday. Would LOVE to find a mid 90's CBR 600.....that's turning out to be impossible. I'm not paying $3800 for an 11 year old bike with 28k miles on it.
