I realize some experiences may be different. But here is mine.

Just wanted to warn you folks - FosterRad who sells the Laser exhaust, FRK power module, and a few other stuff has screwed me. They do not keep their word! Please pass this along to your friends so they won't get screwed too...

OK, so I deal with alot of vendors and dealers for all sorts of parts and stuff. I also write product reviews and try to be fair and judicious with my reviews. I want to post this to serve as a warning so no one else gets screwed like I did...

I ordered a set of Laser Xtreme exhausts back on July '09, same day as when I bought my B-King. At the time I contacted Dr. Robert Foster, one of the owners of FosterRad who sells Laser exhausts. At that time I talked to Dr. Foster about the Laser Xtreme exhaust for the B-King. He told me he had 3 systems being shipped to him and mine would be part of that 3. He indicated it was enroute and would be two weeks to get it. I made a deal with him to order the exhaust. I went a step further and connected him to a dealer who would potentially be interested in being a distributor, carrying the line of Laser exhausts for him/FosterRad. As an exercise to ensure the logistics were proven out, we agreed that I would order from my dealer who would in turn order direct from FosterRad. When I asked Dr. Foster if he would rather I order directly from him, he indicated that it would be fine to order thru my dealer.

Well, the 2 weeks went by and I hear nothing. I contacted my dealer who indicated that they had already placed the order and given their credit card info to FosterRad. They encouraged me to keep in close contact with FosterRad, as well as themselves.


7/23/09: placed order and paid $658.58

8/4/09: I called FosterRad and left a message. I heard nothing back. I sent an email to make sure everything was set and inquiring as to status of my order and heard nothing back.

8/11/09: 2 weeks have come and passed. I called FosterRad and got Denice, Dr. Foster's secretary who told me Dr. Foster was unavailable. After explaining that I just wanted to make sure my order was placed, she directs me to Dr. Foster. He indicated that everything was ok and it will be just another couple of days or so...they would call me back next day to confirm..

8/12/09: I hear nothing back from FosterRad. I figure they were busy and give them a couple of days..

8/14/09: I call FosterRad and speak with Dr. Foster. He tells me he is speaking with Laser exhaust and they will receive shipment in another 2 weeks max and that I will get mine definitely by 9/15/09. They told me they will call me in a couple of days.

8/17/09: I call FosterRad to see if everything was in order. They say yes and they will call me in a few days.

8/24/09: I hear nothing so I call and insist on talking to Dr. Foster. I explain to him that I have been waiting on this exhaust to do a product review and have been working hard to possibly line up a spot on a publication to review his product. The window has closed several times and my promises and credibility is suffering. He says he understands and will make it right to me. Offers to hook me up on their new FRK Power module. I say whatever, I just need the exhaust as promised and that I have already paid since July. He says he will make it right and says he will call Laser right away.
10 minutes later Dr. Foster calls me back and says the exhaust should be to me no later than 9/15/09. He says he will call back in a couple of days.

9/10/09: I hear nothing from them so I send email inquiry, summarizing what we last talked about. I hear nothing back...

9/15/09: deadine is here, I have received nothing. I call FosterRad and leave message. I hear nothing back.

9/21/09: I call and get John at FosterRad. He says he is aware of my situation and it should arrive in a couple of weeks. He will call me back.

nothing....

10/1/09: I get a call back from John. He is nervous and says he will connect me to Dr. Foster. Dr. Foster gets on and has a big attitude. He tells me that this is a highly sought after exhaust and that he is doing me a favor by letting me buy this. He says it's no big deal to him as he can turn around and sell it to the next customer quickly. He asks me if I still want the exhaust. I said yes, just please give me a firm credible date as to when I can really get it. He dodges the question and says well the euro has gone up and you now need to pay $764.93.
I said but I already paid the agreed to price back in July. He says he has no record of payment and tells me if I want it that's how much I need to pay, stating that people all over the world have a high demand for this exhaust and that it would be sold to the next person easily.
I figured I waited this long, fine. I agreed to the new price and said that I was not happy with this. I stated that if he could understand my "heartburn" over the matter of getting bogus dates and being strung along this long, not getting any response to my inquiries and that I had to basically hound them thru the last several months just to get an answer. He interrupts me and says he is a "doctor" and there is no "heartburn" as this is business, trying to be a smartazz. I said ok, do the deal but I will definitely make this experience known. He says, if that's the case then you get no exhaust and we have no deal. I say I will just relay the experience as it happened as that is the truth. He says you have nothing to prove it and hangs up on me...

So here I am on 10/1/09, after having placed my order 7/23/09 and paid for it. I am currently scrambling to try and get my money back on my credit card...

I generally don't have a problem waiting for stuff. But what burns me is the bogus dates, run around, broken promises, and just lack of communication and customer service. Robert comes off as he is doing you a favor...Be warned, FosterRad is a scam! Apparently giving bogus dates is not uncommon as sources close to his operation tell me. They feel real bad about it, but it starts with "Doctor" Foster...

Hello mdfdbusa,

Please post any documentation regarding your purchase through my company the Foster Group.

We were never paid and you and your dealer both know that. Specifically, the credit card proffered by your dealer was declined. We don't send anything out for free no matter how much you threatened us with posts like this.

Additionally, your story about being a journalist with Motorcyclist Magazine on assignment did not prove true when the managing editor was contacted.

Prove that my company got paid and post it here!!!

I await your documentation.

It is unfortunate that your dealer was not forthright, you would've really enjoyed our product.

Should this continue we will have no choice but to seek remedy as prescribed by law.

again with the threats...this is a pattern, read carefully my original post everything is true. You all seem to have selective memory and listening...see my responses to your jibberish below:

Like I said in my original post. The deal was that I go through my local dealer. I paid them and have a receipt. They in turn ordered directly to you at FosterRad. First of all, do you agree with all the correspondence as I documented in the original post? Lotta stuff to make up if you think it is fictional huh? If you concede that the correspondence did take place, then if the credit card was declined, then why is it that you never contacted them or me about it? Even after the numerous conversations and correspondence as noted, why is it that this never ever came up? Even after I asked if everything was in order and to let me know if there are any issues everytime we corresponded? And yes, I do have all my documentation, but you never responded in writing did you?

I never asked for anything for free. As far as threats, I make none. As I said in our conversation (that you said was being recorded at the end, pls play it for all the world to hear), if relaying the experience as it happened is a threat to you, then perhaps you should revisit how you treat customers? You can tell by the numerous responses in the many forums that your treatment of customers like this is NOT uncommon. These are from people I have never met and are cases of your abuse in totally independent situations. How about you address that?

Motorcyclist Magazine?!? WTF? Now you guys are fabricating stuff. I told you that I was trying to line up a review spot on a sportbike magazine which is true. I was not successful because everytime I gave a commitment on when I will have the product from FosterRad, you guys kept breaking your promises and continued lying and stringing me along. You mentioned you had recorded our phone conversation. Please replay it and let's have the truth come out.

This is very a very uncanny resemblance to how your attitude was with the BMW guys. You twist the truth and make false statements and accusations to muddy the water. Truth is, you strung me along. You told me to pay thru my local dealer which I did and have a receipt for thru them. I'm confident that I will get my money back as they promised me they will put it back on my credit card. The issue is FosterRad and Robert Foster's way of treating human beings. Address that one, as it seems to be a common complaint on many forums....

It is unfortunate that your dealer was not forthright, you would've really enjoyed our product.
I happen to know two owners of my local dealership. When I called them up to tell them about this they indicated they will do everything they can to either get me another exhaust for what I paid or refund the money on my credit card. Their word is good, unlike FosterRad's....
as far as enjoying "your product", you are thinking b***** than you actually are, let's leave it at that. I don't know too many people wanting to take a chance with their hard-earned money on outfit like yours, too many other good options...does Laser HQ in the Netherlands know about your conduct with their products?

Bring it! If your knowledge of the law is as expansive as your self-proclaimed "doctor", then I have nothing to worry about....

Here's another interesting fact. Could it be the person named "John" that I posted in my original thread is apparently named Juan. Dunno, cuz he told me he was just an inventory person... If these two folks are actually the same person, then he was actually a nice guy and actually came off as understanding at the previous times. If it's not the same person, then I have never met/dealt with this Juan guy so how does he know the facts? Where is his credibility? Mr. Robert Foster, is this really you just posing as Juan?!?!
It's Robert Foster that was always the one that was never really listening or addressing my concerns, always making broken promises... Too bad Juan let his own name get mixed up in this.....maybe this would have turned out differently if someone other than Robert Foster handled this...dunno, but it couldn't of been any worse...IMHO Robert Foster just possesses no people/listening/business skills whatsoever....
And here goes again with the "M.D.". Here's a clue....if you want respect, give it and earn it. A title does very little when your actions sabotage what little respect you've earned. Yeah, I have a title too. It's called "Customer" and my suffic is "Quit Screwing the Customer"....
Too bad that you revert to "prove it" as your only defense. Fact is the money will be returned. Even if not, it will be forgotten about over time. Your way of treating the Customer will never be forgotten...

ok, so is this Juan, John, or Robert Foster? Too many doctors in the house I guess...

Again, the challenge is for you to address ALL the lies, broken promises, and stringing along that you did to me and apparently do to others as a norm...

As I said before, I paid my local dealer. We had an implied agreement that was very clear as proven and acknowledged by the very fact that you engaged in making repeated promises, however unfulfilled, to me over the course of three months...

Here's a free lesson on being a good business...oh hell forget that. how about just being a good human being....Be honest and upfront. Don't make promises you can't keep. When you are wrong, admit it, address it, try your best to make the wrong a right, and move on. These principles make alot of sense and should not be contingent upon having to prove if you got paid nor does it give you an option to not follow just because you think you have a lock on the "hottest, in-demand" product.... Your actions blemish the Laser line of products, just as it did the many other products you have tainted in the other forums and dealings with other folks...

Here's another interesting observation:

This mystery person never denies what I posted. Instead, he takes the defensive stance of "...prove we got paid..."

kinda like when someone is caught very guilty. Instead of saying no way I didn't do it like innocent folks, the guilty ones say prove it....

If I fabricated all this up in this much detail, then why not dispute everything? I'll tell you why - because everything I said is true and he knows it...

Geez, if I can indeed "fabricate" all this by myself, then I need to consider a career in fictional literature....

Robert, No way in hell I'm going to let you railroad me like you did the others and you know who I'm talking about....I met some new people that I didn't know before. Thanks to you for bringing us together with at least one thing in common - your poor treatment of us as customers....or do you in your own mind think we are nothing until money is in your hands?

I just want to apologize to the Mods and the forum if any of my comments are out of line. I have been a member since 2007 and like this forum. And as you can tell by my low post count I am a person of few words and don't like to spew nothingness...My only goal was to warn other folks of my experience as it happened in all truth. That's it.

The business stuff, getting my money back, I am already taking care of that and have no expectations of this forum for that. Honestly, I just got sick of arrogant folks like him pushing people around and when I heard that I was not the only one, well ya know the rest...

Foster RAD and piss poor customer service

OK I have a beef and I am just a customer that has been done wrong and can not wait to hear what you have to say as phone calls and emails have gone unanswered . I bought an exhaust in July that did not fit and after MANY phone calls and MANY emails I found myself out in the cold with no return phone calls or emails after being promised it would be taken care of.After six weeks all phone numbers went mail box and all were full . Left with nothing but email and no dice.Still in the box on my garage floor as of 10/08/09...........I am all ears.....Lets hear it.I only joined this forum because of this post and am willing to join every forum I can find to post of your poor customer service......Poor would be better than how I was treated.

OMG! Hey Cutter - is that the Laser Xtreme exhaust? I ordered a Laser Xtreme exhaust from FosterRad and that's what they screwed me on also! I would freak if that is what I got! Well, I never even received a product as promised....

I would fight it on your credit card, reason defective product/product not as decribed!

Robert Foster frequents PelicanParts.com and the I-BMW forums alot. Just do a google on Robert Foster / FosterRad and you'll find where he preys on people. He uses different aliases and sells the FRK Power module as well as a few other items - BEWARE. I posted my story on like 8 forums and got pm's from others with a similar story.

FosterRad IS A FRAUD!

Foster RAD and piss poor customer service

Truth be told, I contacted my credit card company and they were very understanding and the charge was credited to my card. I REALLY thought that would have triggered a response from Foster, it did not.I still have this product sitting in a box on my garage floor in October and I purchased it in July.What am I to do with it?Make it fit?Trash it? What is this B/S WORTH TO ME? I just wanted to buy a product from a dealer and three months later I have dealt with an unreal nightmare.I can not be rid of it in fear they may contact me one day and want it back....I will not just ship it back and hope for the best and be out shipping both ways.Laser factory just wants me to deal with Foster.A very poor product and worse customer service.I am open to what I should do.Put yourself in my shoes ....what would you do?

well, I never heard back from Laser in the Netherlands either after their promise to get back to me...I guess they just don't care about the crappy representation of their U.S. distributor....

Looks to me like you two are on a mission against FosterRad... stories above sound very fishy to me...

I bought multiple Laser exhausts from Robert (+misc parts that he shipped to me for free, just to support his customer) and FosterRad always followed through and I never had an issue.

One problem is that they work with Laser, which is located in the UK and give Robert a ton of mis/wrong-information on orders/shipments...
