So I went to this accountant in the Hollywood area for a job interview at his firm. He seemed like one of those guys who works with high profile clients in the entertainment industry and his office is posh, kind of like if it were the W Hotel or a cool crib. It wasn't fancy and super expensive, it was just cool & had a TV on the wall.

He told me a story about a client of his who spent $50,000 in one weekend in Las Vegas. I think his entire check that was $50,000, but I have no idea how long it took him to earn that much so I have no idea if this guy is a millionaire or just making a few hundred thousand a year. Anyways, I was told the guy totally regret how much he spent and pretty much gets paid buy these high profile clients to manage their money. I guess they got the skill to make the big bucks, but can't figure out how much they can spend and not mop about it later on. But if he regrets spending $50K in one weekend, I'd assume his annual income is starting out in the $500K yr to $1 million a year. I'm not sure how rich you must be to think it was money well spent.

I told my friend's parents about this story and they totally agreed it's very possible to spend $50k in one weekend. The wife was not shocked, the wife was like "yeah it is possible" and told me how she has lost lots of money to the casino. The dad is an angel investor so he's a very entrepreneur kind of guy always on the edge and has done pretty well. The wife told me how the husband bought a Lamborghini Countach in his 20s in the 1980s because of a business that went well, so yeah they are loaded, but not in the way like they must tell everyone about the $500 bottle of soy sauce they had this weekend. So kind of knowing that, I'd assume the losses was in the thousands or ten thousands, not just a few hundred bucks.

But anyways, what kind of stuff would you have to buy to blow $50k in one weekend. I guess you can start out with a pent house suite at one of the expensive hotels. Get table service at $10k a night. Buy one of those bottles of alcohol that start at $1000. Or gamble it all away playing $100 a hand at table games.

^^^^ x2.

Seriously, spending 50k in Vegas is as hard as breathing. My Mom used to deal blackjack to a high roller who played every position at 100 grand a hand. That's 100k per play. $800k on the table per hand. That's fucking sick. Why gamble when you already have that much money?

I watched a guy in Vegas lose a $2,500 bet, almost get thrown out and beat by a bouncer, come back 5 minutes later from the ATM with another $2,500 he lost.

So, $5,000 in about 5 minutes, almost got his ass beat, and it sure didn't look like he enjoyed any of it

Casinos make most of their money from poor people who can't stop gambling. It is a really nasty addiction, and rich people who have it don't stay that way for long. Those are the folks that make these things profitable, not the guy who blows a grand on holiday.

There are people that lose more than $50k on one hand. Some people lose millions in a weekend, 50k is nothing there.

I remember walking by a glass room while I was there with more money on the table than I will make in my life, hell probably in two life times. They were playing dominoes.

Know how to leave Vegas with a million bucks? Take two million.

Know how to get rich in Vegas? Build a casino.

This.

You've obviously never been to Vegas or near any type of gambling establishment. Last time I went I tossed 1k down the drain easy just between drinking, gambling, and eating. I don't go to Vegas to win though, I go to have fun. If I win, that's just a bonus.

First time ever, I went with for a 5 days with some buddies the year we all turned 21. Went with about 400 for food, beer, and gambling. First couple of hours there I got 400 on a quarter machine. Paid for my week and I went home with my original 400. So you don't always lose, just most of the time.

Well, I gambled $120 to start at blackjack this weekend. Played at a table with a bunch of adults who could be my friend's parents as they talked about their kids going through college.

The guy next to me gave me a bunch of good tips and knew how to play blackjack well, and he seemed to be a Vegas veteran. Probably guy in his 40-50s. He wasn't going to get me rich, but he was fine giving me his honest advise and explaining his reason so I can play more informed.

But I won and stayed in the green for that blackjack game. I came out with $201 worth of chips and made $81 profit for that game, and with other winnings from other games came out to be $105 profit the whole weekend. Gambling is fun, but for the risk you have to take on never seems to be a good deal and you can easily lose your winnings if you get greedy thinking you'll just keep stacking up.

At the middle of the night after a club, I threw down $20 to play one hand, got 21 (blackjack) and left with $30. This lady next to me said, "you're done?" like she was surprised I would not keep staying after winning. My friends who stayed lost money (I think over $100-300) and started yelling obnoxiously how pissed he was at losing and even said he yelled at the dealer.

And for the comps, got 3 alcoholic drinks so kind of a plus to not having to pay $10 per drink. (just tipping a few bucks). I even got one just watching my friends play, so technically some guy who may hate to gamble could mooch off his friends and get a free drink just for supporting a friend. I wanna know how I can get the other comps like free buffet or free room, that'd be cool.

I lost around $500 this past weekend playing Let It Ride. It happens. Hopefully I will win it back plus some this coming weekend. I join my mom at the casino every Thursday and generally once over the weekend. She enjoys it and I enjoy seeing her happy.

Yeah, they wouldn't be in business if they weren't making money.

I've been to Vegas several times on business for trade conferences. The hotels I stay in always require you to walk through the casino to get to your room. Most of the people I've seen in in the casinos looked like average overweight midwesterners blowing money they look like they don't have. So sad.

When I go, I like to get a rental car and get off the strip to go places. A lot of Vegas off the strip isn't very pretty. It's like an entire underclass lives in the shadows of the glitz and glamor of the strip.

Overall, I'm not much of a fan of Vegas. I'll go for a conference if work is paying, but I would never go on my own accord.

It was the same way when I lived in CT. Them, and you'd have foreign businessmen.

Foxwoods is b***** than any casino in Vegas, and #3 in the world.

To each their own. I love Vegas simply for the fact that you can let loose and have a good time without anyone judging. For me it's like any other vacation, you go to spend money and enjoy yourself. I sat at a blackjack table once for 5 hours, consumed copious amounts of free alcohol, talked to a wide array of people with various backgrounds and experiences, and walked away breaking even (started with 100, left with 100)

Vegas is not on my list of places to see. It does not appeal to me at all.

for the record, OP: the best way to use 50 grand at all, in any city, anywhere, is to put some away for when you need it but don't expect to, pay your fucking bills, buy a fucking house, and grow the fuck up

I've set at a table for 8 - 10 hours many times. It's amazing how fast time goes when you are having fun, especially when winning.

Ditto....I've been through there 3 times on the way to NTC from Fort Carson by bus and never thought twice about going through there on my own. My big loot was a nickel slot that I won about $80 from. I was standing in line at a buffet and pitched in a nickle and the thing went off. I threw the change in a cargo pocket and went to go eat...chi-ching, chi-ching. I couldn't wait to get to the buss to dump it out of my pocket.

Wife went for a wedding the other year. Same thing, a big piss up and that was it. She didn't think that much of it either.

To each there own I suppose.

OP - are you fucking retarded? I mean that with complete and total absence of malice. But are you not mentally all there? Because if so, that explains quite a bit about you.

I moved to foxwood/mohegan area to gamble.

50k is very easy to blow. I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago and went through some money.

No one is happy losing money, but as long as you know it MIGHT disappear you're cool with it
