I just rec'd a gift certificate yesterday for my b-day to Jennings which will be my first track day ever. I can't wait to use it once it cools off a little. Any suggestions or help that might prepare me for my first track experience will be greatly appreciated. The only real thing that I'm worried about is that I'll be HOOKED once I go!

Well like some of the folks around here. You'll get hooked. Quit riding the street. Start a racing team. Post that the bike no longer has street trim. And you've started a very expencive hobby that will cost you tons of money with nothing in return except a personal satisfaction that you can be competitive in a racing enviornment. Good luck, have fun. Let the addiction begin.

Exactly why I won't go, for the above reasons. Why ruin a good thing that I have with my love of streeet riding.

I am overdue as well. Looking into Nov 15th for a day with Donnie's group. Its a good chance to learn what you bike is designed to do. Work on your riding skills and achieve that overall confidence that one should have when riding the street. Gives you a new found respect for your bike but also at the same time, you gain a lot more trust in it as well. Most of all you will have fun. Head up the night before and camp at the track.

trackdays are a great learning environment. first suggestion:leave your ego at home. second: utilize the rider coaches, they can give you invaluable info on proper technique and how to get around the track safely. as tom implied, it can be very addictive but it can also give you tools that you can use on the street. jennings is a great track to get your fix.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It'll definitely be a humbling and exciting experience even though I've been riding for awhile. I'm by no means a pro rider. I'll have to look into the Nov 14th and 15th dates.
Can't wait!

Tons of good info to be had here too. Plenty of people in this forum have been to Jennings and can help you with any question you might have. The main thing is to make sure your lights are taped up, fuses pulled (so tape doesn't melt), switch out your anti-freeze for some Engine Ice or WaterWetter, have good tires...preferable new, good brake pads, remove your tag, mirrors, and other street stuff, have full leathers, boots, etc.....and remember to hydrate hydrate hydrate.....and above all...HAVE FUN!
