the Z has around 30k on it now and for some reason she has been really hard to start lately, I don't think it only has to do with the cold because it has progressively gotten worse before the weather got cold.

when I go to start the bike (moreso when it hasn't been started yet that day), it turns over more slowly then usual and won't even started for like 10 seconds or so. could it be the starter or something more expensive? I leave it on a tender usually and I know the battery is fully charged, could it just not be putting out enough?

im honestly not sure, it was the one I bought the bike with almost 2 years ago and it was on a tender all last winter and whenever I could put it on this summer.

what else could it be? if I take it advanced auto parts or something would they be able to test it even though its not an automobile battery?

Batteries are good for maybe 5-6 years. If your bike has the original battery and it's a 2003, then you need a new battery anyway.

I dunno about an auto parts store testing it, but you could call and ask them. Motorcycle shop or dealer would be the best place.
ok, gonna jack a battery out of a buddies bike and see if the bike starts easier with that, thank you!

i would also say bad battery, it maybe taking the charge and holding charge but when the load hits it, it can't handle it. also look it up and make sure that battery has the ride cranking amps for your bike i have seen cases where it was a new battery but not the right size and it couldn't handle the starting of the bike.
