So, Im FINALLY heading to basic training the 27th, after bein in talks with my recruiters since January and singing up June 7th. I know its gonna be hard but I also know I can do it. Im super excited. I think the day I graduate from basic is gonna be one of the greatest and proudest days of my life.

The only thing I'm dreading is being in training during the fall/winter months. I HATE the cold. I'm a Florida boy. Anyways, anyone got any tips for me?

P.S. I already know the 4 rules of basic: Shut. The. Fuck. Up.

Luckily for me, the class I'm probably gonna be signed up for starts in June. When I watched the video for Marine OCS, I heard my recruiter say to his SSgt that he wouldn't have been able to make it through during the winter months.

Good luck!

At least ill be training over the winter months and by the time I get done with Basic and AIT it will be mid-march and about to get warm again.

I got a couple questions too. When youre done with AIT, do you get a break or R&R or anything? If so, for how long? And when youre done with AIT and you get assigned to a base, do you have any say whatsoever in where you go?
