1998 CBR600 F4, when cold it has a bad off-idle stumble, cracking the throttle will actually kill the engine. When warmed up it gets much better but still a very slight hesitation, and the idle is still not very stable, it fluctuates a couple hundred RPM and doesn't sound healthy (you can hear it stumble at idle as the RPMs stumble and come back up).

It's not my bike so I'm going to recommend to the owner that the carb is torn down to look at the accelerator pump seal/linkage, check for leaks at the bowl, and adjust the mixture (too lean maybe?). Does anyone with more experience with this bike have an opinion? The owner wasn't sure this isn't a normal idle for this bike, and when it's warm the hesitation is very minor.
