I bought this 06 gsxr 600 a couple days ago and while wiping it down I noticed a really tiny spot that wasn't coming off. Upon closer inspection it appears to be rust.

I tried searching online about this but couldn't really find much about it, is it something I should be concerned about? And how did this form?

Usually just chips in the paint from rocks or other debris.

Looks like a chip in the paint down to the bare metal. Needs some touch up before it really starts to rust.

Surface rust like that is very common. Usually a rock chip will hit hard enough to go down to bare metal. Add some moisture and maybe a little salty air and BAM you got rust!

Nothing to really worry about, get a pin or exacto knife, scratch off the rust and seal with some touchup paint. Or get some rust stopping paint and get it on a q tip. Once that dries, paint over that with the right color.
