Just curious to see if anyone owns a Speed Triple in here. If so, do you live in San Diego? I don't see many around... I know they aren't the most popular bikes, and it would be nice to have a fellow Triple owner to hit the canyons with.

I've got one, but I'm about 3000 miles east of San Diego. Yea, you don't see many around, but oddly enough, there's another guy with one in my small town... I see him on the road from time to time, but I've never met him.

Do you guys have pics of your bikes? Post em up!

Does anyone know where I can find a Billet Triple Clamp? I have seen CNC machined units for some model bikes. The 1 piece design incorporates the risers in the design so that the bars have more leverage on the forks. I want one bad!

Better buy some billet. I'd be amazed if you found one aftermarket. There simply aren't that many of the bike around.

(all I can get to from here)

Used to own an '04 Speed Triple SE. Best real-roads bike I've ever ridden. I'd still have it except for needing to pay back debts incurred after a severe back injury and resulting unemployment and medical costs.

So when I responded to your message in Introductions with an avatar that said I own a Speed Triple and live in San Diego, that didn't work for ya, huh?

My bike isn't "canyon-worthy" until I finish gettting the suspension reworked. Shock just left RaceTech today, forks haven't gone in yet.

Would recommend posting in the Triumph specific forum re the billet stuff, more likely to get responses there.

I have the raceteck cartridges and springs....I just threw the spring onthe rear and chopped 10mm out of the dogbone. Helped a TON.

Well did. I'm going to GSXR front end this winter.

Why wouldn't the bike be canyon worthy? The 06 model I have rails around corners. Only issue I had was ground clearance with the bellypan. Had to remove it due to grinding on the left side.

Sorry, I must not have seen the reply from you in the introduction page.

I already asked on the Triumph board about the billet stuff. There are a ton of guys in there that don't know shit about bikes let alone how to find tuner stuff like billet triple clamps.

I know that pic is huge. Sorry.

Here is my "mod" list:
Triumph Fly Screen
Triumph Belly Pan (Not on during canyon rides)
Magura Fat Bars
CRG Levers
CRG Clutch Perch
CRG Bar End Mirror
Mad Doctor LED Tailligh and Turn Signals
Led front signals
Triumph Solo Cowl
Arrow Slip-on System
O2 Sensor Deleter
Ferodo Sintered Grip pads front and rear
Braided Lines Front and rear
Triumph Hugger

There may be more, I am not sure. I wouldn't call any of it a "Performance Mod" other than the Sintered Grip pads and the steel brake lines. I bought the bike the way it was. I have put gas and oil in it. I have a Sargent Seat coming in the mail and I can't wait.

No need to apologize dude, that is a *fucking* *awesome* photo!!! I love how you see the heat from the exhaust!

And now that I look at your mod list, two things come to mind:

I did add the plain 'ol plastic Triumph hugger (the guy at the dealer was bewildered why I didn't want the carbon fiber one for the same price)

I really need to remove the monstrosity that is the rear fender.

The stock suspension isn't right for my weight, and is pretty much crap anyway. It's extremely harsh and not very well controlled. I beat five turns of preload into the shock, which at least got it up into the working range, but it really needed re-springing and re-valving. Had a spare from a friend, and Race Tech just finished revalving, respringing, and rebuilding it and shipped today. With any luck I'll have it installed Saturday. Forks will have to wait until I can have the bike down for a week or two.

I didn't mean the Triumph sites, I just meant the Triumph forum on this board.

That's my biggest complaint about the Triple - it's wallowy at slow speeds and hard as a rock at speed. Little bumps in the road, that I barely feel on the Busa, nearly jerk my hands off the bars on the Triple. I really need to play with the suspension. I don't think my needs quite require new bits, but getting the existing ones to be a little more compliant would be nice.

I love seeing Speed Triples. They aren't the prettiest bikes around but I am strangely drawn to them
I know. They are literally so ugly they are cool.

I'm not sure what the spring rates for yours is but your year has progressive springs that I wasn't really fond of, the top of the travel is REALLY soft, and the bottom is REALLY hard. Check our raceteck or Traxxion dynamics and they both offer straight rate springs and cartriges that have all gotten VERY good reviews.

KeS and have bikes that share a suspension with the CBR900 they are like .82in/lb(or something retarded) best for around a 160lb rider. I have the Raceteck springs all the way around and cartridges up front (Traxxion wasn't around yet when I did the forks) but once you get the suspension sorted you notice the other issue with the Speed Triple. Its frame isn't terribly rigid and you can actually feel it flex once the suspension isn't scaring the crap out of you.

I still manage to tear up some roads with mine. It isn't a track machine, but it IS a hell of a lot of fun.
