I just bought new BT021's (front and rear) and got a great deal for them online. I read the other topics and have seen the polls about when most of you like to change your tires. However I am still on the fence a little.

I have just under 12k on both tires and they are just starting to wear down pretty good. I guess what im asking is how many more miles do you think I can ride on each of these? Ive got the new tires now but if I can wait and save a few hundred miles on the new ones should I still switch them then?

Just looking for a little heads up, thanks.

Change the front now. The rear could go another bit, but are you going to change them both at the same time?

I've never seen a front worn square that much in the middle.

Id like to change them both at the same time just to kill two birds with one stone.
As for the square I was running a very low PSI and never really bothered to check the tire pressure.
What a mistake that was. One day i noticed how unstable the bike had become so it lead me to check it.
I lost more air than I expected and the tire didnt look flat or at all flat. But once I added more air it rode like it was brand new.
Will never make that mistake ever again.

Cant you just look for the tire wear indicator, and go by that (if it's flush with the tread, time to change)

Or, since the tires are rather squared off- would they not be a good indicator?
The wear indicator is pretty flush. I was really just wanted to know how many more miles i could really go before getting into the dangerous territory. Dont plan on riding in the rain anytime soon.

you might be better off buying a secondhand front and rear stand off of ebay. I'm getting close to the wear-bars on my front, and I plan on trying to change it myself too. But I have a center stand to prop the bike up. Just gotta weigh down the back of the bike to get the front off the ground.

The motorcycle lift is only 59.99 as advertised in the back of Sport Rider. I really feel like the lift is a better idea. Anyone else have any input?

meh, the front is fucked, I would have thrown that away a long time ago.

Depedending on how flat spotted the rear was, it could have maybe a couple hundred miles left, depends if you are comfortable to running out to the cords.
