Hi, ive decided on buying a escort 8500 x50 radar detector. So this isnt about "What radar detector to get?". This is about how to mount them, or where to mount them? and how to wire it correctly to work on a bike? I am completely clueless when it comes to the wiring and such.

Anyone who has done this before, or has seen a guide online, any chance they can help me out? I have read many sites such as legalspeeding, radarbusters etc. but no site says how.

I also use a screamer.

as for wiring. I bought one of these and made a second one for my other bike.

I cut a strip of phone jack wire. to the length i needed and using the spliced end wired it to my headlight wire. it uses the same type plug. you will see. U can buy a hardwire plug from

U will either need the screemer. Its LOUD
or the H.A.R.D which to me would be distracting or just plug a little earplug into the detector and into your ear. the screamer is the way to go tho.

it looks like it has a silence function right on your clip on. so that shouldn't be a problem. most modern radar detectors have a built in silence.

or you could wire in a power switch right by your headlights, easy on easy off.

Im pretty sure for a 300 dollar radar detector, that false alarms like that will be very very uncommon. If you read about it, it says it stops false detections. like security scanners and stuff at stores.
Any detector will respond to a signal it recieves. Doesn't matter if it's a $50 or $400 detector. The higher end units may have better filtering capabilities, but they will still false. The X band used to be used for most door openers, security systems, etc. Now, these systems are primarily using the K band. You cannot adjust K band sensitivity, only X. That is what the City/Hwy switch is for. I get K band falses, but rarely get an X false with my X50 set at City - Low X.

So, YES, the screamer will go off riding by the malls and shopping centers.
