I just saw this commercial on TV for F150.
There were saying 5k off sticker.

So how much do those really cost, or any other domestic car? The reason I ask is when reading car magazines, they never factor rebates, and simply by looking at the sticker price and stats, I really, REALLY (as in not at all!) do not see what's so good about a chevy/ford car versus toyota.

american cars have same sticker prices as japanese and you get less warranty, less features, and the most important, less build quality.
It's really hard to keep up will the discounts and deals, that's why I'm posting here. Somebody drives a car/truck, right?

5k off means you have to read the fine print

Discounts for
1. recent college grad
2. Loyalty rebate
3. Off lease
4. Miltary rebate
etc

So if you qualify for all that maybe you get all 5k.

I drove a Ford Focus Hatch, no regrets love the thing.

Blah blah blah on the build quality issue.

I've seen GM vehicles with upwards of 800,000 miles on them that still run like tops. I've seen Japanese vehicles with the same that still run like tops. I've also seen both American and Japanese cars with under 10,000 miles on them that blow up and never run right again.

A car that is taken care of is a quality car and will last a long time...regardless of where it was made.

Now, as far as the rebates go...there are really specific things that make it so you qualify. Maybe the $5,000 is only on certain models with certain options. Like, say the vehicle's base version only costs $20,000....but once you add all the goodies (like leather, b***** motor, extended cab, 4wd, etc) the price is now gonna be $35,000 bucks. The $20,000 version might only get a $1,000 rebate, and you don't get the $5,000 rebate until you get the $35,000 version.

I drive and race my SVT Ford Focus and I have a Kia to back and forth to work. The Kia has a great warrenty but the Focus is a whole lot of fun to drive. You really have to watch the fine print on those specials they run.

I've ordered my F350 King Ranch and besides getting $5000 off, I also get more because I'm buying an 04', have a friend that works at Ford, so I get a Freinds and Family Plan ( X plan), and also since I own a construction business, the Gov. pays me back at the end of the yr. So my $50,000 truck, factor in all these discounts, I'll end up paying only $29,000 for it.. :)

pics might be small, but this is my truck, in and out...

That first part is not correct whatsoever. These are are global countries with no true national centers. For example, if you buy a Ford Focus you will be buying a car that was created by designers in Europe, not America. If you buy a new Chevy Aveo, you are buying a restickered Daewoo. On the other hand most all of the Japanese build in the US and typically do not support BS unions that drive up the price of vehicles and push automakers to other countries.

Want to know why American trucks and SUVs have dominated America? Not becuse they were the best by any means (worse if anything), but because tariffs from the late 60's made anything 'foreign' way too expensive. Same with Harley and large motorcycles in the 80's. Government sponsored monopolies and oligopolies. Also, when you buy most trucks and SUVs you are dumping about 30-40% of that money into pure automaker profit whereas if you buy a car the profits are little to negative, as in they take a loss on some small cars (hence the truck and SUV marketing).

I go with German cars as they are cheaper in the States than in Europe :headbang Nothing beats the German build quality.

I really like a couple of American car designs but inside... all that cheap cheesy plastic :lame

Dont ya just love that write off?:D:D My 4 F350's (99, 2 2001's and my 03) are just plain jane XLT's. Been thinking of adding a couple F450's I get the Fords because my bud owns a Ford dealer. Personally I get whatever floats my boat at the time. Thinking about getting a Lightning when it comes out in the new style. Just got to run it past the wife. Really dont know if she'll let me. Maybe I can butter her up with a trip to Cancun.

That comment I made was pretty lighthearted, unless you just wanted to through that information out there for everyone. Im a classic car guy with a 69 coronet and 76 duster, back when they were American made. I can't really appreciate the expensive of new cars and depreciation, whatever make. If anything I'd buy something a year old and take over payments rather than drive it off the lot and losing value right there.
