Almost got ran over!!!!

I almost got ran over by a van in Harrisionburg this morning. I was riding with my cousin behind me and my dad behind him. (35 MPH zone)

All of a sudden a van runs a stop sign from my right. He was about 20 yard in front of me, I got on the brakes and couldn't believe what happened next.

He crosses all the way over (4 lanes) and a Mustang is coming in the other direction. I think they are going to collide but at the last minute the Mustang locks em up and turns right. He runs into the drivers door of some Poor old lady sitting at the stop sign on the other side of the road.

I am stopped in the road at this point, stunned. Next thing I know the van drives off. My dad followed him long enough to get the plate and we turned all the info over to the cops. They had the guy (he was parked a few blocks away) before we left the seen.

As bad as I hate to go to court, I would be glad to take a day off, drive four hours to burn the guys ass in court. The guy in the Stang and the old lady should sue his ass for sure.

glad to hear your alright and nothing happened to you i hate people in cars "i know we all have them but we watch for outher bikes":angry
Crazy story. Yeah, glad nobody got hurt.
Glad no one got hurt, sounds like it could've been a whole lot worse if the mustang hadn't been paying attention.
Wow, what a asshole. I really hate people who can't drive. It's so crazy some of the shit we have to go through on these bikes. I wish everyone had to take a motorcycle safty class regardless of if they wanted a bike or not. Once you have a bike you become a million times more concience of your suroundings, even when your in your car.

Oh, and about the "i hate people in cars comment" I totally agree. I always put it, "the only reason I have a car is for winter and rainy days."

I have to agree with that 100%. I have become a way better driver since riding motorcycle. It raises your awareness and quickens your reflexes. Im not as much into cars now having a awsome motorcycle but i still love driving my '86 monte carlo ss!!

:blowingup

:barf
So the guy that ran the stop sign was a working stiff in a delivery van?
Most guys that drive for a living can't get one accident on their record or they lose the job. Maybe running a stop sign and causing an accident will be enough to convince a judge that he needs a career re-assessment. Good thing you dad followed him long enough to get his plate #'s. I hope they give him the chair.
No, just a guy in his personal van.
