When going out to ride for fun I wear full gear. But the thing is it's all black except for the helmet.
Black leather jacket, black leather pants, boots, etc.
Does this affect visibility at all? Does it really help to wear bright colors?
On a more shallow note: Does all black look strange, I feel like I get a lot of weird looks when I wear my all black gear?

So should I look into getting a brighter colored jacket?

Personally, i dont wear all black because of the visibility issue. I know i have a hard time seeing people in all black. A guy i see around here rides all black, and has a black bike. At night, he is damn hard to see from the side.

You dont have to go bling bling with a jacket. Just make sure you black has some sort of reflective material on it somewhere. Or you bike is easily seen. On my old bike i put on new graphics, and used some reflective pin striping for the outline, couldnt see it during the day, but it was bright at night.

just my two cents....drug out to a nickel

yeah...I guess I'll get a new jacket then, tax returns should be coming in sometime in the near future.

What do you guys think of the Teknic Lightning? I was thinking that or the Tourmaster/Cortech Impulse Jacket.

I'm just worried that the perforations in the Impulse would make it too cold for early spring/late fall in NY.

Hey TS80, Oyster Bay, LI Here. I've been told by my buddy that I tend to blend into the asphalt because my jacket and pants are black. My helmet is silver. I'll think of something for a little more color. Maybe a hot pink feather boa..LOL
