so it turns out installing a slip-on pipe on the 1000rr is a huge ass pain. i have the back end of the bike seriously torn up and have literally about 50 different bolgs undone (i dont know how i am ever going to put her back together). what is really annoying is the fact that the midpie (the one connecting the headers to the muffler) does not seem to fit right. i also saw someone else complain about this. now i have to call jardine and see if they cant send me a better pipe. this is just not very funny considering i have 20 pieces of the bike sitting in my living room in the condo... aaagh.

anyone have the jardine slip on pipe on their 1000rr?

I guess you can make this analogy:

Jardine is to Akrapovic exhaust what Hotbodies is to Sharkskinz bodywork...

otherwise known as: you get what you pay for.

The difference is, if the fit is bad on bodywork you can fix it pretty easily with a dremel. If the fit is bad on exhaust pipe...time to RMA. I would just send it back and buy something else.

i had a jardine on the f4i and was very happy with it. not sure why this one isn't as good?!?! but i overall like the sound and looks of this system so that is why i chose it. i mean, how hard is it to bend a pipe to fit an opening. geez, i am a mechanical engineer and this stuff does not seem like it should be too complicated...

i talked to them today and they told me to send the midpipe back to them to check it. that's gonna make it another couple of weeks. it is a good thing i am doing this in the middle of the winter cuz if i had to do this during the summer i would just reassemble the bike and fcuk it!

Not all slip-ons are created equal...I have a Two Bros. and although I have no fittiment issues, the power gain isn't up to Arata and Sato standards...though they cost a helluva lot more then I paid...go to 1000rr.net

Because issue is with the pipe fitment in installation of Jardine slip-on on a 1000RR the pipe is junk? The original poster even stated that his past experience with Jardine there were no issues. I wonder is it because with the intricate under tail exhaust on the RR…Or is it that he may need some additional help/instruction on installation all together? :rolleyes
You guys are kidding right?

True, it's not the best pipe out there; however, to give an unaccommodating feedback on a can based on simply a fitment problem is a joke.

Is it the performance of Jardine that some of you are being so critical of or is it the “fitment”? I suppose if ANY pipes that are problematic due to fitment would be considered junk and should be tossed in the trash can.

The best advice thus far was from okie.

No, I'm not kidding...at all. A part that is manufactured should be done so to specification, and the fit should be perfect or near perfect. That is such a basic essential thing in equipment manufacturing that I would question everything else about the part. Kind of like if you go to a restaurant and the bathroom is filthy...you can imagine what the kitchen looks like, and extrapolate a fair judgment on the attitude of the staff. Attention to detail is an indication of quality.

I didnt say toss it in the trash. I said RMA, he can get another one from the same manufacturer if he wants to. I wouldnt install a part like that unless it fit correctly.

quick update. i just talked to them and they told me that they had finally checked to see if the pipe is correct late last week but the person i communcated with had not heard the result yet. they are hoping that they can give me an answer later on today. so far it will be a month that my bike has remained stationary and disassembled. i am almost thinking about putting it back together with the old pipe and reselling the jardine.

anyone interested in purchasing a brand new jardine slip on?

i got a jardine full system for my bike (which probably cost what that slip-on did, tee hee) but yeah. That thing was a piece of shit. The head pipe cracked and failed at the engine mount, so I had it welded up. three weeks later the can blew itself apart on the highway. the rivets had ripped out of the front part of the can, so the can slid back into the rear tire, and all the packing blew out.

i sent that piece of shit back, they sent a replacement and I sold it on ebay. I lost $150 or so and the bike was down for a month and a half while i tried to find a new pipe, but I learned that lesson.

jardine = garbage.

when you get it back or it's replacement, sell the fucker on ebay and be done with it.

Jardine pipes are definately bottom-of-the-barrel with regards to their low price--hence the reason I ended up with one on my last bike, but it turned out to be the best sounding exhaust I have ever had.

The fit and finish was cheap, just like the cost of the pipe, but you can't really screw a regular side mounted bolt-on exhaust up, just turned out to be my luck that the exhaust sounded great for what I paid for it.

I disagree, I had a Jardine slip on on my 05 R6 and it seemed to be decent quality, it fit well, looked nice and sounded sweet. this is prolly just a problem with this particular pipe, now I agree Jardine doesnt compare to Akrapovic but at the price you can get Jardines for you cant expect Akra quality

as i mentioned before, i have had a positive experience with jardine in the past. the pipe on my 600f4i was good looking and was assembled just fine. it was actually down once (tipped over by someone backing into the bike) and my buddy who bought the bike off of me actually ended up dropping the bike while going about 1-20 mph on that side and the pipe actually held up pretty good and did not wear through and is still intact.

so i am essentially disappointed with this particular product. also having lost use of my bike for a month is not making me happy and i refuse to spend $600 on a slip on. hence why i think i may just punch the stock baffles and be done...

however, i dont think it s fair that i lose money on this exhaust as it is literally completely brand new!!! should i go back to hammy who sold it to me and ask for a refund? i feel kinda bad cuz he didn't do anything wrong himself.

please advise.
