Well I've got a 2001 Honda cbr 929rr with a hotbodies racing bodykit. I just bought this from a friend. This kit does not come with a headlight cutout. What kind of possibilities can you recommend me to make this a legal nighttime riding bike. I have currently purchased a stock headlight for a 929 and have thought about having this cutout to fit this in place, but how would this mount without any tabs on the fairing to bolt it to? What other cool ideas can you all give me to have a legal headlight on this bike. Sorry I have no pics yet of the bike to see. On hotbodiesracing.com under honda they have the 929 kit to see. Thank you all and I hope you may have some good ideas or advice for me. :fiddy

Hey Rob..... Heres an idea I did on a 900rr afew years ago. He bought race body work (fiberglass) and wanted to do something different with the headlight. So I decided to french in a set of PIAA driving lights into the front where the head would go. Im not sure if you have any pervious experience in doing body work but its not a major mod.
Basically I'll try to give ya a run down.
I used the fiberglass chopped cloth and wrapped it around a spray can with plastic wrap... ( ya know the kind of plastic wrap that you use to cover food with)
then mix up some resin and spread it on. I did 2 coats of glass/resin with dry time in between the layers.
**** note from my trial and error... if you like this idea find a piece of PVC pipe to wrap the fiberglass around. It was a b*tch to get the fiberglass tube off the spray can, but thats all i had around the shop at 2 in the morning...lol
The plastic wrap is used to keep the fiberglass from sticking to the tube your wrapping it around.
After all thats said and done , you can use a hole saw to cut the upper fairing for the driving light tube.
Then insert the fiberglass tube into the hole and fiberglass/resin it in.
Make the tube long enuff so you have alittle room to decide how deep you'd like it frenched in.
Cut off the un-needed material and you should only have to do minimal body work
(body filler)
As for mounting the driving light to the fiberglass tube:
I just made up a little "L" bracket from some scrap metal and glassed it in to the back side of the tube.
**** Just make sure you have the headlight adjusted before you glass the tube into the upper.
Well its just an idea for ya.
If this is something you like and maybe need alittle more info. , give me aholler and I'll do my best to talk ya through it.

Actually the best way to do this is with a cup from mcd's or something as the cup has a natural taper and you can get a better effect instead of tube lights

Not to mention the paper cup tears out of the glass easily as its waxed paper.

I do composites as a business. If you need anything else that he cant help ya with let me know.
