I'm one of those guys who compulsively gets a different bike every couple of years. Last spring I sold my 07 Kawi ZX-06 and bought a ZX-14 and I love it. Now I want to sell my 07 Suzuki GSX-R750 for a 1000 because i'm addicted to the power. Any opinions of what bike to get? Anyone think i'm making a mistake? Any comments negative or positive would be appreciated.

I figured I will sell the 07 GSX-R750 for about 5 grand. I will put another 4 grand with that and have a 9 grand budget maximum. For that price I can buy a nice 1000cc inline bike, but far too little for a S1000r. However, I WILL have that bike one day because it's insane. For now, within my budget, i'm looking for suggestions. Or should I just keep the 750?

I agree, and i still have my 600 and 750 its the best. I have ridden a 1000 and it honestly doesnt feel that much stronger than a 750.

You wont find a bike with better overall balance than the Gixxer 750. I had an '08 that was stolen after 6 months. I bought a Ducati to replace it but I still miss the way the Gixxer handled, and just did everything well.

if you want power, turbo your ZX14.

it will be a whole lot faster than a GSXR1000.

honestly, your question is about as silly as a veyron owner coming on a forum to post a question about whether he should sell his 360 modena to get an F430.

I wouldn't say EVERYWHERE! Power is soft under 6 grand.
So is every modern race replica inline 4 literbike. You dont get real power until you wind it up into the upper midrange.

If you want low end tractable quick-spooling fun power you might want to try big bore twins. If you want affordable top end insanity look no further than 1st generation zx10's. full akrapovic, thin head gasket, kawasaki race cams, etc will get you well into the 170's.. with a 400 lb bike. the late model 10's are also a good bargain, I have seen 2008 leftovers with 0 miles go for $6900 and with that your starting point is a bhp in the 170's. very refined bike, and very powerful. better cornering than a 14 and still has the same or better top end rush (power/wt ratio). I still prefer the looks and rawness of the 04-05 zx10, but the 2008+ is the better bike. easier to ride fast.

If I was gonna get a new liter bike it'd be the Honda (it feels so light sitting on it) or the R1, even though I'm not crazy about the front of either one of 'em! :cheers

I had a K7 750 too and it was a great bike. I did the reverse and got an 06 Daytona 675. It's pretty close to the 750 and I can keep up with another K7 rider who is 30-40 pounds heavier than me. I haven't had a chance to ride any true liter bikes, only the new Streetfighter 1098, the Tuono, and a TL1000R. All twins, so they don't really count and were all pretty close to the 750 in terms of power, just different torque and delivery. Maybe try and find a deal on an 1125R or something.

What color is your 750 by the way?

i feel the complete opposite. the 1000 feels much much faster than the 750 i've ridden. both '08 models, one being a suzuki and the other being a honda. in terms of shear thrust, the 1000 felt like a rocket and the 750 more like a beefed up 600. mind you every bike is different, and i'm only speaking from two models.
