I know the manual says to get it serviced and checked at 500 miles because of the break in period ,but it's now at 755 miles. Is it bad to ride it until 1000 miles and then get it done? I called the dealership I bought it from and they said I should bring it in, but it would be ok to ride until then... it will cost $90-100 and I would have to leave it for a few days because they are backed up...

Yeh, I can handle that much I'm sure. A friend looked at it the other day and said since it was still full and the oil still looked clean it would be ok, but he didn't look at the filter. Not sure I want to go off his judgement though.. he doesn't even own a bike! Is that the normal cost of it, also?

The big thing about break-in service, is getting that old oil out of there, because any metal shavings or anything like that from the manufacture of the engine needs to get out of that oil and filter. Many people change it after only 100 miles. Some bikes are also suppose to have their valves ajusted after 500 miles as well though. But a lot of people just skip that.

I would just get the oil changed ASAP, and then go ride...
