I'm going to look at a 1991 Suzuki gsx 600 with 31k tomorrow. The people selling it are asking $700.

They told me it has been sitting for about a year but it was started 4 months ago. It ran fine cold but when it warmed up it would cut out.

My questions are: Should I be worried that there could be a major underlying problem besides the carbs being gummed up?

Is there anything model specific I should know to look for?

Please give me some input. Thanks

Josh

There is not much activity in this forum. Might want to try gsxr.com or gixxer.com for answers. If you ask in the general section, they will tell you to go to a gixxer site which is dedicated to the GSX-R.

Old Suzuki coils are shit. I went through several sets in mine before just putting some Yamaha coils in. They would get hot and quit. The ignition controller could also be bad. If the bike wasn't severely abuse the engine internals should be ok, but it's an oil cooled motor so. . . . . . . .

Thanks for the input. What model did your Yamaha coils come off of? I was told that the engine was in excellent shape, and the carbs were the problem. I need to find some carb rebuild kits.
