Hi All,
I own an 02GSXR600 which I've had for about 2 years and now want to upgrade. I'm pretty keen on an 04GSXR750 or an 04 Aprilia RSV1000R.
They are both very different bikes and from all accounts both very good. I've never ridden a V twin before and was wondering what would be the better bike. I do like the idea of owning an Italian V twin but I know that the 04GSXR750 is one hell of a bike. I suppose I should just test ride both and make up my own mind. Any advice to help me decide?? :dunno

Go aprilia! I have a Falco. Its nice to have something that no one else has. My falco is fast and can play with the rest, the RSV is Faster.

I say get a new experience in life and buy a twin. Going from a Gsxr600 to a Gsxr750 sounds a boring thing to do.

I'm not sure of the price in the USA but here in Australia the 750 GSXR cost $17K and the Aprilia RSV1000R costs $25K. So yeah, it's a big price difference.

Go aprilia! I have a Falco. Its nice to have something that no one else has. My falco is fast and can play with the rest, the RSV is Faster.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Everyone has a Suzuki, but it's for a good reason, they make a great bike.
The Aprilia is more exotic and I haven't seen too many of them around.

Agreed, but you do get quality for your money, although it does come at a price.Your comment about a new experience in life has got me thinking that maybe the Aprilia is the go.

That's like saying "get the Ford Mustang Cobra , it's faster than that Ferrari 308" It's not just about speed, riding an Italian bred bike is a different experience altogether, it's "overpriced" it may not beat the 750 in the books or even the track, but it's just a more "exotic" riding experience, I don't know how else to say it. Go with the Aprilia, it's an awesome bike, and I think the MSRP on them is $11,999 where the GSXR is $8000, so yeah, more money, but you get what you pay for with the Priller.

This is like someone buying a Infiniti I30 over a Nissan Maxima. All you are getting is the extras like nicer feeling controls, seats, image.

The core is the same.

Actully the world of vtwin sportbike is not exactly hot right now. That is just too bad.

I'd go for the Aprilia unless money is an issue to you. I agree with whoever said that going from a Gix 6 to a 750 is pretty boring. Unless what you want is a faster version of your bike, in which case, by all means get the Gixxer. The Aprilia will be a bit and heavier heavier also, so if you're a small guy, you might feel more comfy tossing the Suzuki around. They're really just two completely different bikes, you have to decide what you want, V-twin or another Inline 4. If you plan on keeping the bike for a while I'd also check into the reliability of Aprilia, though from what little I know it's quite good. The Japanese bikes are all bulletproof, of course. What kind of riding do you plan on doing, exactly?

Id say that the price difference isnt all that big of a deal, especially if you are going to finance it. The biggest thing to consider is the difference between a V-Twin and an Inline 4. Which would you rather have? Not everybody likes the feeling of a twin ALL of the time. Most people I know have a twin as their second bike. But I dunno. Best bet would be to test ride them both. I personally feel that there is a difference of significance between the 600 and 750 and it wouldnt be all that boring. I LOVE my kawi 6R and I love Kawi design and engineering. I cant wait til I move up in size and It will probably be to a 10R. But I digress...make up your own mind!

i agree with you though if it were for a track bike...but i would rather have a nice twin for the street.

If you have the money for an Aprilia, why are you limiting yourself to that or a gixxer 750? You could have anything japan makes for that kind of jing. Why not an RC51 if you want a twin? With the money left over from an Aprilia, you couuld have a PC and full exhaust on the RC.
I've got a hard on for the Aprilia, don't get me wrong. But I just can't justify the increased expense (like half the cost of a second bike) just for an Italian. And secondly, Aprilia may or may not survive as a company. Keep in mind that you may need replacement parts for a bike that just isn't made anymore and only a few were sold. Won't be like finding R1 parts on Ebay.

Just depends on how deep your pockets are. Id go for the 750, unless I had the flow for the twin. Maintenance is a bit more too for the Aprilia and are you close to an Aprilia shop. I believe the 750 will probably be SR's Bike of the Year this year, its just a great all around bike.

Im pretty sure that the HP of both are close with the edge goin to the twin, only by a lil bit though. Unless you go with the "Factory" version, she's pimp but more $$$. Whatever you decide with just have fun with her. :headbang
