I will be buying one of these soon and was wondering if anyone has ridden both. my dealership wont let anyone testride so i dont know which one i will like better. They are both awsome looking bikes but i just cant decide. I do alot of riding on the street and also do trackdays. please give opinions if you have ridden these bikes

I'd be hesitant to pick up a ZX-10 on it's first production year. I haven't ridden either, but the local Kawasaki dealership here has had a couple of transmission problems with the ZX-10. As far as looks go, the R-1 has me sold, I just don't want/need an uderseat exhaust.

Bastard, ya beat me to it! I was about to say I'll trade my 10 for the chick for one night.

As for which one to get, I say the 10R. But of course I'm a little biased.

BTW, I have yet to hear about any 10R having tranny issues, besides the pre-production units.

I'd take the R1.

As has already been said, I really wouldn't want to get anything (car, bike, boat, plane...whatever) when it's in it's first production year.

man, what a tough decision.
On looks, the R1 looks better i think. but i feel like the performance is a little better all around with the 10R since you were saying that you want to use it for dual purposes. I dont understand all the worry about 1st production year. This bike is made inline with the other successful bikes of kawasaki, i.e. 6r. Besides, thats what warranties are for.

They're both serious overkill. I'd buy a more suitable track bike and a year's worth of track time.

I like both track riding and street riding. I have had an R1 for three years and love the power of a liter bike. I dont want to go back to a 600. And i am doing trackdays so that isnt the issue. thanks
