I rode today but I doubt you would be interested in following me on my commute from home to work and back.

Wouldn't be too interesting....

how much for the iron butt reg form. i think if we leave out around noon on a friday and ride 10 to 11 hours. hit arest area for three to 4 hours and give her hell till we see the green bridge then we would be good. the more people go the slower we will go so just keep that in mind. i think a group or 4 to 6 bikes should be the max on this ride. we would have to hit mostly interstate roads to get it done so that will take a few people out of the running. me and danny were looking at just a missouri run and if we left cape down to sikeston over to springfield and branson area up to kc then over to east stl to mount vernin il down to cairo over to sikeston then up to morle , oran, chaffee up to gordanville in to cape you would be just over 1000 miles and it could be done in 24 hours with time to spare. we thought keeping it in one state would be better far as with the planing of roughts and weather. just a thought, but we can go out of state but i have family were we could crash at for the 2 to 4 hour reast at kcat no cost to us. lets get some other peoples input on this

well while that is true, that not stop me from riding. riding/driving illegal isnt new to me. I drove for six years before i got me drive license recently, and never had a wreck or been pulled over. Its funny that all of a sudden tickets are coming left and right.

I would rather do a straight out and straight back (which is what they suggest). Ashville NC is almost exactly 500 miles from Cape. It is a gorgeous ride through the mountains and is almost all interstate travel.

The YNSR is somewhat the same as an Iron Butt run. Jim Puckett, a friend and fellow rider, established this rally together with Grass Roots as a sponsor. Basically, you will be hunting for points within a given time period. The one with most points wins. If you are not familiar with your navigation system, I suggest you learn it before you attempt to place in that rally. I know for a fact, that some of the bonus points are really tough to get at and sportbikes, well, they are at a disadvantage.
This Thursday we are hosting the evening ride. It looks rainy, so I guess we will see how many show up and go from there. I need someone to lead the faster group - any volunteers?

well after reading all thr rules a straight out and back dose make more since. i still think we should leave either early morning or mid day so we can get the first 12 hour out of the way in the day time. not feeling the take off at night think. just more of a safety consern. i think a friday and saturday would be better just incase some ones bike would go down or brake down we could maybe get it fixed so we don't leave any body behind. i some one would go down we stop the race and hold up with them till they can ride again or they get medical help. this is a must. we start as one we finish as one. so i think just a few riders rather than a large number is still the best way to go.

Whoever is going on this better do a few longer distance rides first like drur said. Do a 500 and a 750 then decide if you can make the full 1000 after that. Interstate riding is mind numbing to say the least and it'll take more out of you physically than you think. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from doing the ss1k, just don't think that it'll just be a long ride. If your sore or bitching by 500-600 miles your in for a world of hurt.
