pretty cool run-in with a 911 turbo.

so i was headin home from a buddys house and ended up pulling up behind a 911 turbo at a stop light. we both take a right onto a 4 lane rode (2 lanes each way.) i just stick behind him in the right lane, but he seems to want to play a bit. he kept it at about 20 for a couple seconds so i flip on my signal and just roll on past thinking its some retired old dude but once my rear tire gets past him i hear this ungodly tone and he flys past me. there's another stop light ahead and i pull up right next to him, look over and give him a thumbs up and he nods with a big grin. the light turns green and we roll off. i take off pretty slow and keep it in first gear...because i feel like showin him how fast a bike can go even if it is only on one wheel. he punches it and i clutch up a nice wheelie. im right next to him when i set it down, shift to second, and i just pull away like it aint no thang. didnt get to see the guy after that, but it was pretty sweet to play with a supercar.

I know what you mean, its always a nice feeling to spank a cager.

I find that its generally not as easy as it used to be. I mean the cars are getting faster and faster. The other night, I got my ass handed to me by a lexus, of all things...Mind you, it was country roads at night and I had my girl on the back, so I wasn't really pushing it. I'd say I was pushing about 70% as hard as I could, but this thing must've had Nitrous. He pulled away faster than I have ever seen any car before....

i would agree that cars are getting marginally faster. especially with the new corvette/z06 for that money. but look at how much faster bikes are getting. 160rwhp...one hundred-and-fucking-sixty. its like traning a nascar fan to be able to beat an olympic runner. it may be done but its gonne take a shit load of work.

Greed and ignorance shall be the downfall of society.

No, I wasn't hacked, I've just been off 2-wheels for a few years.

Porsche 996 TT is real near the top of my favorite cars list. Even used ones still fetch $80k, so that's not gonna happen.

Well, also remember that just because a person can afford a car that costs $100k, doesn't mean they have the driving skills to match

They were rolling slowly... I'm pretty sure that if you can afford a $100k you at least know how to step on the gas pedal. and regardless of tranny gear, that car would not have a problem keeping up, and or owning that guy.

On a guy in the $100k car note. If there was some kid (or young male to be PC) next to my shiny car trying to get my to race or play or whatever you want to call it by doing wheelies, I would personally back off and let the guy crash in to a tree or whatever, and NOT my $100k car. Expecially considering that MOST people don't carry but the state min's for ins. In MD. That's 20k for property damage. 20K - 100k = -80k comming from where?
(oh, and one more thing, if the guy COULD afford a $100k car, I am sure that he also thinks simmilar to my thoughts above as he has to have some level of maturity, at least for most part, Paris Hilton type need not apply)

yeah cars are getting faster.. so are bikes.. in the long run if you come down to STRAIGHTLINE speed cars win..fastest top fuel cars are like 3 something and bikes are in the 4s i believe.. but bikes just handle alot better and look alot cooler

that's a common misconception. For the most part, yes, your (insert sportbike here) will outhandle the average Civic or Eclipse on the street. However, a properly setup car will outhandle a properly setup bike on a proper track.

simple physics: four big tires gripping the pavement will provide better traction than 2 smaller tires.

I noticed a couple of posts saying that bikes are getting faster as well...

I would have to disagree. I think the difference is that sports cars have been getting noticably faster in a usable way and car-people in general have taken notice of sport-bikes and are taking drastic measures to increase the power of their vehicles....

ITs true thtat bikes have been getting faster on paper, but in reality, they have also been getting somewhat unmanagable and scary, too...

I think it comes down to the fact that it takes both a lot less skill to go fast in a car AND with a lot less risk, so unless the conditions are perfect for me to give it 100% on my bike, the car will just win.

Dont get me wrong. I'll be looking for that lexus. Next time I see him, he's gonna get ra*ped so hard it will scar him for life.

sure bikes have a lot more horsepower than they used too, but hasn't the gearing gotten taller as well? over 100mph in 1st for the literbikes. isn't this hurting acceleration to make a production bike safer and less wheely prone?

i've been owned once or twice around here by muscle cars (woodward dream cruise area) that have huge power bands...

if i'm not in the right gear, it's over.

oh yeah, i'd bet on the 2jz conversion too. scary fast with a single.

cbr600rr 05 btw (stolen)
