I bought a HJC CL-SP recently. Nice helmet, I was pretty happy with it. Great QR shield attachment.

However, the color doesn't match my new bike, and I've been feeling a lot of 'lift' with it recently, as well as turbulance. I was also getting some noise from the forehead inlets.

So, tried a Shoei RX-1000 and bought it. More comfortable (for ME), better ear cups, more accessories (nose breath guard, chin guard), VERY similar QR shield mounting, but more ratcheting positions.

The Shoei is quieter, fits ME better, doesn't have the lift issue, feels lighter on the head, looks a bit kewler, has a more adjustable shield.

Both are nice helmets, but I'm very happy with getting the Shoei. Worth the extra money

Good choice. I have had the rf 1000 for about 2 years. It is the best helmet I have had to date. They have all kinds of shields and parts too. The only problem I have had is that the lock lever broke off recently. It wasn't a big deal because the new one is only $5. The helmet is really quite and light. I don't get wind-lash like I did on other helmets I owned. I now have about 5 helmets (2 shoei) sitting around and the rf1000 is my favorite. For the gf she has a scorpion which is nice for the price, but the fabric pulls my facial hair.(thus it is now deemed a girls only helmet)

I do notice that the forehead intakes whistle on the RF-1000 when I turn my head sideways.

Does yours?

Nice call. I've got the same bucket. Zero issues to this point.

Nope. It doesn't whistle and I have been up to around 140 mph with it.

Don't let it bug you, they (the bugs) will eventually fill it up and it won't whistle anymore.

Good choice in helmet. Where did you get it?

Local store called Cycle Gear. Actually it's a chain and they also do mail order.
