PICS: Black Rear Vortex Sprocket & Black Chain

Greetings!

After slightly more than 19,000 miles on the original chain on my FZ6, it was time to change out the chain and sprockets. I decided to try something different and go with aftermarket parts. Vortex Black Rear Sprocket with 47 teeth (stock was 46 teeth) and a black chain. Also converted from 530 chain to 520 chain.

I was curious about how much difference in weight there was between Vortex and OEM and put them on my old reloader scale. The Vortex rear sprocket is MUCH lighter than the stock sprocket, 412g verse 1104 grams. That makes the Vortex rear sprocket 37% of the weight of the OEM sprocket.

Purchased the parts from: Sum Of All Parts- Motorcycle Parts, Accessories and Gear

Looks good, how much did it set you back? I like the black chain.

Looks really good, I am waiting for my chain and sprockets to arrive, I ordered a stock size front sprocket 520 chain and added 2 teeth in the rear (48). I wish I would have gotten them in black but I got a great deal from a friend that owns a shop. $120 for everything and I think it's a DID chain

Thanks! I'm very happy with how it turned out.

For the black rear sprocket, standard front sprocket and the black 520 chain, with shipping and everything..total was $214. Plus a 12 pack of beer to my friend for his help in getting them on the FZ6

Have you noticed if your speedo is off by much more since you added a bigger rear sprocket?

Haven't had a chance to test that out yet. I have a GPS I use on my bikes, will check it against that next time I am out. Even while stock, the speedo was off though, showing higher than actual.

I am also insterested adding the LSL Swingarm slider to match my LSL frame sliders. Does anyone know where we can order the swingarm mounting kit? I called Spieglerusa.com and was told they do not offer the swingarm slider for FZ6.

Thanks in advance!

Based on the GPS readings, the speedo doesn't seem to be much more off than before, maybe like 1 or 2mph difference at most.

The LSL sliders I have on the swingarm are the same as the regular frame sliders. However, you have to get an adapter kit to fit them on the swingarm. I purcased an adapter kit quite awhile ago from someone on this board. If I can find the specifics, I'll post 'em.

Looks great! Only thing is it looks like there's no slack, meaning too tight.

There is some slack. It is on the tight end of things though. It was perfect, then tightned up some when I torqued the axle nut. Figured it was still within spec, but might loosen it a bit since I hear a bit of a whine coming from it.

OK, found the info. Purchased them from crazymofo. Don't know if he is still making them though:
