I don't think K&N currently makes an air filter, or even has plans for one for the fz6. the alternative is to get one from an italian manufacturer called BMC. I bought mine from eBay, US$45, seller was 'fast by ferraci'.

Pigrat, when I inquired about air filters I was also told that K&N weren't making one for the FZ6. The guy from the dyno tuning place near me told me that if you put a K&N and a BMC next to each other you would not be able to tell the difference. The only price I have seen for the BMC was $145 and this was a bit much for my hip pocket, maybe if I can get a better deal I will look into it again.

I have to say, I am not a fan of K&N or other aftermarket air filters... I used to use K&N years ago. I prefer OEM and changing often lol.

However..... If you like I can order you one, and then ship it out to you.

I was at the K&N site, and they have these listed for the 2004 Yamaha FZ6:

K&N Search Tool

I don't know why it came up with 4, but it did.

2004 YAMAHA FZ6 600 - All Motorcycle / Powersports Oil Filter KN-303

2004 YAMAHA FZ6 600 - All Motorcycle / Powersports Oil Filter KN-303C

2004 YAMAHA FZ6 Fazer 600 - All Motorcycle / Powersports Oil Filter KN-303

2004 YAMAHA FZ6 Fazer 600 - All Motorcycle / Powersports Oil Filter KN-303C

Just let me know.

Unless something has become available in the last week or two, I'm pretty sure your going to have to gt the BMC. I asked my dealer to get me a K&N filter and have it there when I went to pick my bike up and they couldn't get it. They called K&N and were told that there wasn't a filter offered at this time. I also got my BMC of off ebay for $45 from fast-by-ferraci. They had been keeping one listed on ebay, but looks like they have stopped that. Go to their web page and see what you can find.

Sorry if the question sounds kinda silly, but what are the performance benefits of the BMC air filter? Since it's getting cold out now, I think it's about time to start the mod process!

the BMC is a cotten gauze racing filter. it allows more air throught the same amound of space because it is less restrictive. It is also washable. I buy K&N filters ( same thing) for my cars and notices that ive got higher fuel economy and it takes the lag out of the throttle responce of carburated cars. They are the last filter that you have to buy since they are wasable with the filter kits. It makes the rev happy FZ6 rev a little quicker and im sure that there is a small HP and maybe even a torque gain. I still would like to see an FZ6 dyno with and without.

understand it myself, I found those 4 then realized they were oil only and was confused for a few minutes, figured I didnt do the K&N application page correctly. And found it strange they wouldnt make a "shape" to fit our bike.

How hard could it be?
