Our most popular tank bag by far. This is the bag that made Chase Harper famous, but for tanks that aren't metal. Designed for easy transport of difficult sized loads, the Chase Harper 1150 Tankbag expands vertically from three to nine inches depending on the capacity required. Internal compression straps provide load control for heavy objects. A separate zippered lower compartment with a cuttable foam block allows for rattle-free storage of flashlights, tools, camera, etc... Cons:

Weather flap makes access to main compartment a pain.
|
|
I have owned this bag for over a year now.
Starting from the top down, The double sided detachable map pocket is just a little too small. you have to put some funny folds in yer maps, but it functions well enough.
The weather flap that covers the main compartment zipper, makes entry into the main compartment a little tricky. The flap has 4 large patches of Velcro on the underside which also doubles as the retension system for the way the bag expands. So if you have the bag compacted down to minimize height, you have to undo the Velcro to get to the main compartment. This is not a deal breaker, just kind of a pain.
The main compartment is very large when expanded. I was surprised at the amount of crap I could fit in this thing. There is a mesh pocket on the underside of the lid and a clip for the house keys.
The bottom compartment has become many things, depending on the task at hand. I sport/tour so I take more stuff than the regular sport rider. I can fit my 2 piece rain suit, boot covers, rain gloves, glove liners and Canyon Dancer bar harness (just in case). When the tail bag comes into play, the rain gear goen in there and I cut the foam and fitted a 2 liter hydration bladder in the bottom section. I run the hose out and clip it on the outside of the bag.
I have had no problems with scratching the tank and the magnets are very strong. Personally tested in excess of 135 MPH.
Hope that helps.
