I also have a 06 FZ6 (Blue). I have about 600miles thus far and have noticed that between 6-7.5 rpms, there tends to be a flat spot. Once passed 7ish rpms, the bike really comes alive. I am hoping that a KN Filter and Slip on Exhaust (Two Brothers, Micron, or AK) would help. Other than that, I love this bike.

Hey, never ridden before, looking for something cool, but practical, so I'm looking at the FZ6, just wondering if it's a good bike to learn on

I just purchased my bike three days ago. This is my second bike with my first bike being a Buell Blast. Not much to compare to because there is nothing to compare a Buell Blast to a FZ6, but you have to learn on something. So far I have put 260 miles on the bike and it is amazing. I only wished that I bought the bike first. It has an amazing engine that can scoot around town or rip it up to 13000 rpm. You better be hanging on when the tach hits 8k because it is going to hit hard. A quick shift at 12k will pull the front tire up so watch out. I am going on my second trip on the bike tomorrow and hope to put another 200 miles on it. BUY AN FZ6, you will not be disappointed!

I have a 2004 fz6 and just passed 33000 miles, ride daily to work year round. Just purchased exhaust and powercomander, have already upgraded front brake lines and sliders on front frame. I am very pleased with bikes performance and handling. Next on list is a more comfortable seat it has not gotten any softer in the two years ive ridden.

Just got my bike today! It is my first street legal bike, any recommendations for the break in period for both myself and the bike?

big ole dirt bike
|
|
Mechanically, its great. Its why I bought it, especially for its price.
Very fast at high RPM's, solid torque at mid.
Too top heavy is my main complaint. Being 5'9" I can't have both feet on the ground at once...not even close.
Great daily commuter. Ok in gas, but not as good as I expected for fuel injection at 600cc's (about 42-44mpg).
Great bike for taller people...definitely a no-go for shorter people.
Great bang-for buck. Seat is very fine...I'm big on 'comfort' and I have no problems going hours on it.

All around capabilities, value for money, performance

Cons:

seat, clanky gear box
|
|
Got it new, have 6500 miles on it. Good all rounder, agile enough for town, good enough protection for touring. 06 model brakes are a bit on the soft-feeling side I think. Hate the clanky gear box, especially the transition to 2nd gear, hate the seat after 1.5 hour of riding.
Wouldn't change it for any other 600cc street bike.
