Pros:
|
Tough durable feel, good protection, comfortable in riding position
|
|
Cons:
|
Aerodynamic hump, shoulder width, air flow
|

This is a really great jacket. You\'ve got plenty of protection for the arms/shoulders and back. It zips to the Joe Rocket Speedmaster pants (great for trackdays).
Its not too heavy, but the leather is good thickness and can get pretty hot. There are vents in the arms and back and atop the shoulders. With the vents closed its a pretty good cold weather jacket. Vents open gives you a little air, nothing to jump up and down about so riding in 90 deg. weather is stuffy.
It feels terribly awkward the first time you put it on, but it breaks in well. In riding position it is very comfortable, doesn\'t ride up on my neck at all. I thought I would appreciate the aerodynamic hump, but it makes it difficult for me to get down behind my windscreen. The back of your helmet hits it when you lift your head up. Not a deal breaker, but takes a bit of getting used to.
The sizing is a bit odd. I\'m 5\'9\" 145 lbs and I bought a size 42. At first I thought it was too small, but after a couple days I realized it was pretty much right on. They seem to run narrow in the chest, and long vertically. Sleeve length is about right. If you are a shorter stocky guy with broad shoulders or have a chest (I don\'t lol) you might feel a little constricted w/ a size 42. It does ease up as you break it in though. I have plenty of room to breath, but if I went any smaller I think my shoulders would feel squished. Waistline ends up just about where I wear my belt in jeans, but I tend to wear jeans that are too big and hang a bit. An inch or so shorter would be perfect for me. I figure this size would work for someone up to 5\'11\" w/ moderate build.
I purchased mine from Kneedraggers.com for $373 after a 10% discount special.
I can\'t say how much I like how well the Speedmaster Jacket goes with the Speedmaster gloves and pants. They fit together very well in function as well as form.

I bought this jacket (2003 model) last year on the closeout pages of ridegear.com
I also bought the speedmaster perforated pants and matching gloves. Like the original review pointed out, I think it is a good value product.

With no edit feature that I can see, I will simply correct my prior review by saying my jacket is a 2002 model, not 2003.
