aprilia SL mille Falco owners are limited in their choice of aftermarket rear sets. Gilles (sold through Lockheart-Phillips Options Italia) is the only main stream manufacturer that makes rear sets for the Falco. RSV owners have many options, of course.
I had a little get off that bent up my right side brake lever and foot peg, so instead of spending $250 on a full OEM replacement set, I decide to spend a bit more ($450) and spring for the bling.
Positives: These are really attractive and well made rear sets. They really add a nice look to an already good looking Italian motorcycle.
Negatives: I wanted to move my pegs farther aft and down, but there is not much more adjustment over the OEM pegs. Also, the angle at which the rear brake master cylinder mounts to the Gilles frame is different than the OEM mounting position, requiring a longer rear brake line. Finally, the Gilles do not incorporate a brake lever return spring, like the OEM equipment. Therefore, the weight of the brake lever pulls the shaft downward, causing the rear brake light switch to illuminate.
In the first pic I am holding the shaft in the full up (contact) position. In the next pic, you can see that the brake lever has fallen downward enough to cause the brake light switch (not seen in the pics) to break contact with the brake lever contact roller.
Bottom line, I'm going to have to fool around with it some and figure out a way to keep the brake lever in the full up position.
Gilles includes a customer feedback form to address issue such as this. I am going to fill mine out and return it.

Carbon heel plates break off with hard use. Adjustment bolts soft, heads round out. Fasteners need loctite (nothing new). Not the most crashable. Expensive replacement parts.

I've had Gilles adjustable rearsets on my RSV-R since it was new. This was really the only adjustable rearset option in 2003, and my legs didn't fit under the tank.
They've held up to some hard use, some fourty trackdays. All in-all, the rearsets have held up pretty well. All of the linkage bearings are still silky smooth, whereas the Vortex on my 600RR have gone to poo in only a year.
My left carbon heelplate broke off after only a season - I used it to bare some weight, so it saw some hard use - and replacements are $60. Ouch! Likewise with the remainder of the parts.
The Gilles look great, but it's obvious that they've put form before crashability. Both brackets and pegs are prone to damage. Along the line of vortex products again. Nothing like the damn-near invincible Woodcraft CFM.
Not that I'm one to get hung up on asthetics, but they look great!
In summary, I would reccomend the Gilles rearsets for a street or occasional bike for thier style, feel, and general longevity. Hard core track heads should look elsewhere, however, due to the added expense of the Gilles, thier lack of crashworthiness, and expense of replacement parts.
