Description:

Vanson’s patented Air Curtain (U.S. Patent 5.507.042) offers you a longer riding season along with every feature you need for safety and comfort. Our internal air curtain folds down to let cooling air flow inside for summer riding or zips air tight for cooler days and early morning rides. The Competition Weight PROperf front is the key to this new riding technology. This is the same leather we use on our AMA approved race suits. But there’s more than meets the eye. The adjustable waistband is concealed inside the jacket and it allows you to add clothing without compromising fit. The Cobra will accept any Vanson Body Armor and the STREAMLINER thermal vest and it will zip to any Vanson Sport Rider pant to make a road worthy 2-piece suit. It features double leather at the shoulders, elbow/forearm/ and waistband. The sleeves zip down to provide an air tight fit and the snap back mandarin collar will prevent ‘slap’ at highway speeds. The classic lines are uncluttered and the embroidered Vanson ovals assure that you have chosen the finest riding garments available today.
Features:
-black anodized hardware
-pre-curved sleeves
-full length wind flap
-2 rear exhaust vents

I have been using this jacket now for 4 years. While I have purchased many other riding jackets since, this is still my favorite jacket and I wear it more than any other. Vanson styling is generic, it doesn’t have the sharp colors or graphic elements of the other riding jackets, but this jacket functions like no other.
The leather is thicker than any other jacket. It’s made from shiny, smooth and hard leather, not porous soft leather. In rain the water just rolls off as if the jacket is waterproof.
This is the most comfortable jacket I have ever warn. The way it’s cut, it fits me perfect, like it was made for me. I wear size 6 I’m 5’ 5” 120 lbs. The back is slightly longer and covers the lower back and the sleeves are perfect length also. I like the way they zipper and are tapered, allowing a gantlet glove over the sleeve easily. While I still own and wear 5 other riding jackets, the only thing I can say about this Vanson jacket, it’s magic. Somehow the way it’s cut and the thick leather hold me in this perfect riding positions for hours with less fatigue than any other jacket that I own. It’s simply amazing and that’s the reason why I keep wearing it, especially on the longer rides.
The venting on this jacket is great as well. There are two zippered vents in the middle of the back and the chest area is all perforated. You slide the air curtain down inside the jacket liner and you let the air in when it’s hot.
The armor does not come with the jacket, it’s extra. You can choose from hard or soft armor. Armor can be inserted in the shoulders, elbows and as back protector pad. I use the soft armor but only in the shoulders and elbows. The back protector pad was very uncomfortable and unfortunately, the jacket is too snug to allow me to wear my Dainese back protector.
Also, this jacket does not come with an insulated liner. You can purchase a Vanson insulated vest separately, which I have and it does keep you warm.
All together with the vest and armor this jacket will run you about $700 but will last forever. And Vanson will fix or replace anything on it for as long as you have it. After all these years my jacket is still like new.
Some negatives: I wish the jacket came with a full sleeve zip-in insulated liner and the jacket liner would have been better it was made from the meshy material, not nylon, which gets hot on really warm days. But over all that is not a big deal.
This is a great jacket from around 55 degrees to 80 degrees.
I also have to add that I own this Cobra jacket and the Vanson fully perforated model, which is great for 90+ degree days. And I own both the non-perforated and perforated riding pants from Vanson. Vanson is top notch quality.
