If you just want a change in length, why not either cut down the stock ones or buy a cheapy set and cut those down? You could even paint or powdercoat them if you like.
If you want better feel, I'd suggest buying some ASVs, CRGs or Pazzos. They are much more adjustable and look better too IMO.

The 2005-2008 ZZR600 has one gas tank! It holds a total of 4.8 gallons of which 3.7 is available until you have to switch to reserve to use the remaining 1.1 gallons of gas.
I asked for black ASV shorties with red adjusters for Christmas from the wife. I liked the fact they had more adjustments for the lever travel, and they have that 5 year replacement guarantee - even if you crash. I am put off by the fact I asked for a brochure on their website a month ago, and they have not sent it yet.
I would have gone with those Pazzos but Jay got to them before I did. Dammit Jay! They do look nice on there, but those red adjusters match my bike. I'm just sayin'

Don't cut levers, they might stab you in a collision. There are reasons why there is a big bulb on the end!
Go CRG or ASV. Accept no substitutes!
Like the others have said (well, except the above), I'd go with the Pazzos. As far as the knob on the end, you can cut them and grind the edges. In fact, there's a video on youtube about how to "pimp your bike" that shows how to do it.

IMO that video is stupid.

Gixxer rider. I bet he rides in shorts and flip flops.
I can't believe he cut and ground the lever down while still on the the bike. One slip with that angle grinder and he'd have a nice scrape on that fairing.

No disrespect intended, but what did you expect from a video called "how to pimp your bike"? I'm surprised those guys aren't putting velvet trim on that bike. I just figured I'd point out that it's possible to chop the levers.
I'd still go with the pazzos.
