My stockers were pretty much done at 6K miles so I spent a lot of time reading about tires on here. Ended up with the PP 2CT's. I'm not a big twisty's guy, but wanted better performance with a little longer lasting tire. Anyway, what a difference! It's like the tires know when to turn on their own. LOL. Looking forward to going out and really trying them out once I get the sheen off. Thanks again guys!
6K out of stock D207's? Mine lasted about 3600 miles. You won't get 6K out of Michelin PP 2CT's. Mine are at about 5K now and are almost done. I do allot of aggressive riding on the twisties, but also commute to work on the bike as much as possible. This means riding upright which has taken its toll on the center on the rear PP 2CT. This is my third set of tires on my 2006 ZZR. The first set of Michelins were plain PP's. They did the same thing. I'm going with the Michelin Pilot Road 2CT next season. Basically they are the best of both worlds. Hard in the middle and soft on the edges. We will see if that claim is true next season when I have them installed. They will be my third set of Michelins. I would strongly suggest that you use these or find another tire with a harder rubber compound in the middle. From the sound of it, some sort of a touring tire would be great for you.

The 2005-2008 ZZR600 has one gas tank! It holds at total of 4.8 gallons of which 3.7 is available until you have to switch to reserve to use the remaining 1.1 gallons of gas.
I agree with ZZRrocket. I think this are the best of both worlds. I just aquired a set but I have not yet mounted them still waiting. My qualifiers are almost done.

Did you pay $334.98 plus shipping from Cycle Gear? front $144.99 rear $189.99
STG a sponsor of SBN has them for $304.95 shipped.
I use motorcyclesuperstore.com against themselves with the lowest price guarantee they have. Found the front 120/70ZR17 on MotoXoulet.com for $121.99 and the rear for $150.99, that's $272.98 for the same tires minus shipping. Doesn't hurt to use goggle and shop around for the best deal you can find. Jay

I thought the 2ct was harder in the middle then the regular PP? And soft on the edges? Anyway, They feel great so far!

If you want good grip and long life, get some Conti Road Attacks. Mine have about 5k, and are still holding up really good. I will replace with the same when the time comes.

Not sure what Im doing wrong but I can get 8K out of a set of PP even with track days. I run max cold pressures unless at the track. Maybe has something to do with it.
Ive got the Pilot Roads on my ST1300 and really like them for sport touring but they do have a distinctive buzz to them at speed. Not sure if the ZZR will do this as the ST is 300+ lbs heavier. Excellent rain grip.
My understanding is that the Pilot Roads are basically the same tire only a step harder compound and different groove cut pattern for wet grip.
How do you like your ST? I almost pulled the trigger on one of those before I realized my wife and I won't have any time for real touring for another few years when the boy gets older. They look like a sweet ride.

Nope I even called Michelin Tech support and discussed this with them. The center portion of the PP 2CT is the same compound and the entire regular PP. The sides of the PP 2CT are 20% softer than the center portion of the tire. Thus explaining why the wore out so fast. This is my reasoning behind the Pilot Road 2CT. Harder in the middle. Longer tire life. This whole Michelin tire thing has been an experiment for me over the last two riding seasons. Regular PP's, PP 2CT's and next season Pilot Road 2CT's. I'm hoping for better results next season.
Here's the before and after pics on the set of regular PP's that I had last season.

Bummer. I must have misread one of the post I read from the archives. I thought you had put on the 2ct outback and used a PP up front at one point. Oh well. Maybe I can get 5K out of them!
