Track Time
I rode with a group of guys yesterday. The leader was on a r1, next a zx-9, me then a 05 zx-12, suzuki gs1200 & yamaha fj1200. I was on the smallest bike there.
Our destination was Texas Motorplex for 1/4 racing. We had an hour ride to get there. At one point the guy on the r1 and zx-9 went wot and as I tried to keep up they ran away from me fast! I got up to 135 on a narrow asphalt road and then I slowed down. They said they were at 160.
On the track I paired up with the gs1200 and for my first run at the track my results were 12.383 @ 111.66 1/4 - 8.019 @ 92.25 1/8 R/T .811
VS.
gs1200 - 12.159 @ 113.61 1/4 - 7.919 @ 95.04 1/8 R/T .658
My bike is bone stock except for shimmed carbs. He had a yoshi slip on.
All we got was one run since the pro mods were highly favored over us and were running multiple times to our one run.
I need to work on reaction time. I had rpm's at 6 k at launch. I used clutch to shift and the other guy only used clutch at takeoff.
It was fun to say the least. The r1 ran a 10 something at 130.
Now I'm ready for my next performance mod. Ive got a stock can that I cut in half and it is really free flowing. What should I do next? Advancer? Sync carbs?

Were you at the Seguin raceway on friday? I stopped by there but the line was way too long to bother racing, i saw a silver zzr there too.
My best in the quarter, was a 12.013, but i was having a clutch adjustment issue, i think i could shave it down a little bit, but i usually run a 12.2, 12.3 depending on reaction time.

My truck goes around corners too, but i don't see the need to race it around them, but my bike on the other hand is a little quicker...but i think the nearest road racing track is about 4 hours away in the Dallas Ft. Worth area.

No I was at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Tx. I'm going to try for high 11's after my next mod.

Anybody know what the cost is to dyno a bike? My goal is to get a 100 hp. out of the bike.
I have a gutted stock can that has to be way more free flowing than even a aftermarket can. So maybe I eked 5 hp with that? That would put me at 94hp. An ign adv should add 5 or 6 more to get me to 100.
I read that the new 08 zx6r's are running mid 10's stock.
