Default Front Mototeck signals!

When installing front turn signals, do you have to remove the entire front cowling? im trying to keep this as simple as possible, but is it necessary to remove the entire front?

a buddy of mine did his without removing the fairing, but I think it's way easier to do with the fairing off. It's not a tough job, just takes a few minutes.

Yes you will need to remove the front upper cowling assembly. Don't forget to unhook the RAM-AIR. You will need a 1/4 end wrench to turn those screws on the turn signals. Also before you install them the MOTOTECK instructions suggest running the screws all the way in and out of the lenses. Jay

i never want to touch that bike again..lol..5 hours on this stuff is too long...didnt realize how involved it was.

it being 30 degrees out while doing this didnt help much either.

I feel your pain. I just got in from doing an undertail on my Honda 929. Will be doing the flushmounts in the morning. I wasnt cold though, as I have heat in my garage, so I can only imagine how miserable that was for you.

Hate to burst your bubble but did you purchase the load resistors from MOTOTECK? Otherwise your turn signal will not flash at the proper rate.

Solution to the Tridon EL12 Flasher Relay that worked for me. Used a KURYAKYN # 6004865 load equalizer with the Tridon EL12 Flasher Relay. It has two purple wires and one black wire. On the MOTOTECK undertail LED's all I did was tap into one black wire with the black wire from the load equalizer and tap into each yellow wire with each of the two purple wires. I then plugged the Tridon EL12 flasher relay back into the female connectors that I had installed on the wires. Make sure you plug the Orange wire into the "L" marked on the bottom of the EL12 relay. I used some double sided tape and mount the load equalizer to the rear frame. You want to stick it to any plastic parts because it gets hot. And presto. I turned the key and turned on my hazard flashers and they flash at a normal rate, just like stock turn signals do. Turn signals right and left also work properly. Problem fixed. Any questions .

Cost:

Tridon EL12 Electronic Flasher $8.99 at AutoZone
Kuryakyn Load Equalizer # 6004865 $5.00 at Dealership

they came with resistors...but i was too tired to figure out how to hook them up (a couple plastic pieces i had no idea what they were for..) so i just shrink wraped the wires so i could go back and perm instal them later when i feel like it...plus i dont know where to hook up that white LED license plate light.

Brandon, ill make sure to bum your garage when i get my brake line and ignition advance...i dont like numb hands trying to turn a wrench..haha..plus it will be nice to have another set of hands working so i dont have to enlist my knees and thighs as hands.

but i looked at the job this morning, polished the plastic and it looks good.

pictures will be up tonight in the ZZR Mod sticky.

You hook the little white LED for for license plate into your tail light. I said tail light not brake light.
