Default Oil recommendation

I have a 2006 ZZR 600 with 6500 miles and live in Florida. What weight would be best for the warmer weather?

Thanks

I run 20W50 KawaChem during the hotter months in Indiana.

Thumbs up

Ok, thanks, as you know it is hot/warm year round here. That is what I was planning on going with but have read and heard varying opinions on oil.

Far, it's good you only asked for the weight, not manufacturer haha

you'll never stop hearing varying opinions on oil, but I think most will agree, and kind of have to, that the thicker oil is better for warmer temps... I, as does mr. rocket, use 20w50Kawi oil during warmer months, and plan to switch to 10w40 for the cooler ones...

I wasn't even gonna get into the brands, lol. Changed yesterday, a piece of cake. I don't see why people are opposed to removing the fairing it was no problem. I used the whole gallon and the level is barely above the bottom marks though. I didn't use a larger oil filter, I used the Mobil M1-108.

I'm personally against removing the fairing because I have frame sliders installed, and removing the fairing would involve removing the frame sliders each and every time... it's a lot easier, for me at least, to take off the drain plug, let all the oil drain out, then lower to front onto the ground, with the rear still up on stands, turn the wheel right and take off the oil filter, AFTER putting aluminum foil under the filter to guide the oil into the pan... much much simpler than taking off the fairing, whether you have sliders or no...

Oh and I actually use less than the whole gallon, with a KN-303 filter change, and the oil level is just below the top line... about 3/4ths up from bottom line

That's strange. I buy my KawaChem oil by the gallon and when I change my oil and filter I empty the entire contents of the container into the bike and it puts my oil level between the two lines on the sight glass which is with in the safe operating range of the bike. Are you using a larger filter than the OEM size?

Do ya think 10w 40 is ok for the hot Tucson Summer temps? Anywhere from 95 to 110.

I used the Mobil M1-108. I sure can't picture a smaller filter, lol. I guess I am just used to trucks.
