You always pre-fill the oil filter. That's just engine basics. But I will ask, what is this burping thing all about??????? Never heard of it..
You might want to call Kawasaki and let them know. Seems their multitude of engineers with many years of experience missed that little tidbit of information.
Just cause it's not in the book doesn't mean it's not a good thing to do..
If you think about it, it should help the oil circulate faster..
That said, it has just been my personal experience that pre-filling helps the oil changes go more smoothly.
One of two things will happen...
1. The oil in the filter will sit there until oil from the pump reaches it, meaning the engine will get oil perhaps a 1/10 of a second faster.
2. The oil in the filter will go to the engine when it is started, but as soon as the oil from the filter is pumped, it will stop until the oil from the engine catches up. This is due to the fact that the oil will begin pumping, but will maintain an air pocket between the oil in the filter and the oil being pumped.
I'm not saying it will hurt anything, but since our oil filter is horizontal, it just adds another chance to spill oil all over the place.
Yea, you usually get a drop or two.. But thats why I leave the drain pan right there to catch it.. I just try to avoid the valve chattering sound.. I hate that noise..

YMMV.
that is terribly flawed logic...i would cut and paste from source after source proving it, but it'll be just as easy for you to do your own search...*hint: google is your friend*
hopefully noone comes in here and reads your post and follows it

loosening the filter "burps" the system and seems to fix a lot of peoples oil light that stays on after they change the oil

its funny to read how ANAL these guys are when it comes to oil-changes on their ''disposable''sport-bikes..worrying about ''valve-chatter'' which usually doesnt happen at all ..after they change their oil these young bucks are just gonna rev the @$#% out of the motor and do block long wheelie [which cant do engine parts very good].. cmon, these engines can take tons of abuse- you could run them with half a crankcase full and still get home..all you gotta do is change the oil [cheap stuff or expensive stuff- up to you]at regular intervals and you'll be fine..dont wring out the throttle after you've just put in fresh oil..just let it idle for a few seconds and the oil will pump[ circulate].. and then you can go and ride like hell..
Been helping my dad change oil for almost 20 years and he's been doing it for 45.... never pre-filled a filter. I think it's more of personal preference. If it makes you sleep better at night, by all means do it.

Maybe it's just me but I take pride in taking care of my vehicles..

its so easy a cave man can do it..just change your oil and shut up and ride ...no need for statistics- no need for aircraft mechanics..any fool can do the deed..if you have to have the dealership do it - then you are a lazy mother$#%@#$ and are not worthy of even owning a motorcycle...[IMO] put in the best oil you can afford and ride on....
Its a pressurized system. Besides that, if there is anything in the oil that you are pouring into the filter, it will not be filtered out.
As always, source?
www.google.com i'm not doing your work for you...also, consider doing some research on things you aren't sure about before you steer someone that doesn't know better in the wrong direction...as far as anything in the oil, are you reusing oil, because even a new bottle of the super cheap stuff doesn't have "stuff" in it

yes and no...i'm not going to argue that it's personal preference, because when it comes down to it, it is...however, the benefit does exist...it may not be as important on standard vehicles that are eased through life, on performance vehicles (high power cars, esp. turbo vehicles and motorcycles especially high revving ones) the chances of doing damage are greater as they tend to be much finer honed and very picky
now don't missunderstand, i'm not saying that not prefilling your oil filter will cause instantaneous catastrophic failure...it will negatively impact performance though
