Hi there, I bought a 2006 zzr 600 Silver several months go before I went away on my last tour. I just returned to the desert, went to the bike shop in the morning, dropped a small truck load of money and bought the gear so I could finally ride the bike I have been paying insurance on. The day was amazing learning how to use the new bike, getting the feeling for the suspension, handling and the new gear.
The day came to an end at around 8 pm when I was going down a side street. A silver Jeep small suv came out of a parking lot like a bat outta heck. I revved the engine, honked the horn and braked. Hoping that the guy who was running the intersection would see and hear me. The guy got out of the suv and started to scream at me. I kind of just looked forward and started to pull the bike back so I could go around him. I was about two rolls back when the guy pulled me and the bike to the ground, pulling my helmet over my head. He kicked me in the ribs several times. I was finally able to get the bike off my leg and get up. In the struggle the guy bit my ear off in three places.
I held this guy down on the ground hollering for help, then I think the loss of blood pretty much whipped me out. A few hours later I returned to the scene from the hospital to pick up my ear and have most of it re-attached at the hospital.
Ok so this is what I learned... Always give yourself a way out, the bike is heavy as heck when it is on top of you, and before I forget NEVER underestimate anyone no matter what their size is.
It is amazing how all of the local bike shops have got behind me in the desert as well as the majority of the local businesses in the area.
Besides that I had an amazing "maiden" voyage and hope to get on my bike again soon.
If the police do not arrest this person soon, I hope that we run into eachother.
Christopher

Man I'm glad your going to be okay. What's wrong with people these days? People have no respect for motorcyclists. Let alone a Veteran. It would be my mission to find that guy who bit my ear off. When I found him, he would get a dose of his own medicine. Welcome to SBN with much respect. The words "Ride Safe" have a whole new meaning to me now. Maybe you should consider a CCW permit. http://www.packing.org/state/california/

Hello all, my name is Attila and I leave in norcal. I just got my 07 yesterday for really really cheap. Don't know how the shop stays in business. If you are in norcal I would encourage you to stop by a small shop in REDWOOD CITY near San Francisco. They carry HONDA, SUZUKI, KAWY, KTM. I am new to this forum discussion thing, but I will learn quickly I am sure.
